Anaelle & Alex

You don’t always need to see the decorative details to get the full picture of a wedding. This wedding is all about the fashion, the frolics, the fun and an abundance of love.

Are you ready for this… The dress Anaelle wore at her wedding ceremony at the Town Hall was from ZARA. Yes, as in high street Zara. How incredible is that and she looks HOT. Anaelle and Alex chose to have an intimate ceremony and then celebrate with friends and family the following day where she wore a Rime Arodaky gown (lush). Can I also just tell you that the bridesmaid dresses were from Topshop. I’m not even kidding. A wedding with dresses from two of my favourite high street stores. I am in attainable fashion heaven. I’m not even sure that is real English but either way this is just ace.

Check out how ‘girl in green dress’ who caught the bouquet decided to carry it. I might make this a permanent bag accessory.

Anaelle the Bride: We met in law school 10 years ago, but our story really started in 2012. We did not realise immediately that we were made for each other ! Now it’s just obvious and our story grew naturally day after day. We are so lucky… We prepared our wedding with joy, emotion, love & rock’n’roll !

The Venue

Based in Montpellier, south of France, and in love with our city, we immediately decided to get married in back country at the foot of Pic Saint Loup mountain. The civil ceremony was held in Prades-le-Lez, a small village north of Montpellier. The ceremony and celebration took place kilometers away at the Mas des Violettes. We wanted a simple wedding, friendly and that looked like us. We wanted a complete weekend wedding and be surrounded by our friends and members of our closest family. We immediately decided on a “Bohemian chic” theme and the Mas des Violettes really inspired us as the ideal place in a rural setting.

The Theme

We had a lot of fun finding and preparing the decorations for our Boho chic theme. We decided that the theme would be perfectly enhanced with decor dominated by burlap and lace, and a hint of liberty fabric. Etsy is a gold mine! we found many of our decorative items from there. But we also relied on great suppliers such as Sky Lantern and Les Petits thèmes, Amazon, Badges en folie (for ultra fun badges that allowed you to customize) and My sweet boutique, not to mention the invaluable help, for a year, from friends and family.

The Flowers

We only wanted to use gypsophila and we did not want to many decorative flowers. For us, the bohemian theme and spirit of our country marriage justified the presence of country flowers and small touches. A special mention for the Florist, Nature des Sens in Montpellier, I recommend would highly recommend them!

The Ceremony

We married in the Town Hall on Saturday morning in the company of our very closest friends and family (parents, brother and sister, witnesses and their spouses). We had a brunch and informal ceremony on the Sunday at the foot of the Pic St Loup. The ceremony was held under a beautiful gazebo orchestrated by a magic meter and sublime harpist, not to mention the meal and the evening when everyone was entertained, the weekend of our wedding will forever remain in our minds and in our hearts.

If I had to do it all over again we would not change anything! Everything was perfect: the top providers, friends and special family… We also take this opportunity to thank all our loved ones who have made this moment a memorable one. The ceremony was a moment of intense emotion for us but also for family and friends.

The Food

After cocktails with lots of little oven and griddle plates, we sat for our evening meal from Le Delice des Princes of:
Jacques scallops tartare on asparagus, beans and citrus courgettes
Duck breast roasted, stewed onions and tomato cluster, a tart with rosemary
Cheese plate (we are French!)
Dessert buffets and cake.

The wine came from an area of the region, le Clos des Augustins, in Saint-Mathieude-Tréviers.

The Photography

Julien Rouvelou, Streetfocus photography. He was passionate, caring and creative. It was the unanimous opinion of our guests that we have obviously found a very talented photographer and a magician of light: thanks to him, we live again every moment of our wedding with the same intensity and the same emotion as the big day with.
