Inspiration

A chic city celebration in London with a candle lit ceremony at the Asylum Chapel followed by a rooftop reception. A beaded Anna Campbell wedding dress that was hunted down by the bride herself (more on that later!), neon signs and a contemporary hexagonal wedding cake to name a few of the highlights of this day! With the bride's sister by her side in a blush dress as her chosen bridesmaid and amazing views over the city, the happy couple watched on as their nearest and dearest sipped on homemade damson gin and enjoyed a cheese tower for the evening do!

What Made Our Day Unique

We got married in London, our hometown, on the beautiful heatwave Easter weekend. We chose the stunning Asylum Chapel for our ceremony - it's atmospheric interior and incredible grounds in the heart of South London - and new venue The Deck on the South Bank, right on the river Thames. It was the perfect mix of old and new. I opted for no veil and instead had a statement hair pin. We had just one bridesmaid (my sister) and a best man - no groomsmen. We had a best mates top table, a hexagon cake, I bought my dress from Australia via email with the designer, we had a neon sign, a London bus, my mum's ivy from her house hung in both venues, homemade Damson gin favours, sharing style Spring lamb & colourful sides, and pizza & a cheese tower for the evening. We had a neon sign of our first dance made for our house and had it on while I got ready!

Anna Campbell Wedding Dress

Having set her heart on an Anna Campbell wedding dress but budget not stretching, the bride took matters into her own hands and contacted the Anna Campbell HQ all the way in Australia to see if they had any samples to sell on. Thankfully, luck was on her side and they had the most beautiful beaded, cap-sleeved bridal gown in Aurora's size, it was shipped over, looked perfect and the rest is history!

Inspiration & Styling

We always knew we'd get married in London, where we met, live and love, and Asylum was our first choice of ceremony venue - we booked our date 2.5 years in advance! But London reception venues are hard work, there are so many restrictions and curfews around what you can and can't do. In our 2 years, we went through 3 venues - two closed down after we'd booked them, the second about a year out from the wedding. I'd had enough and felt exhausted by trying to find somewhere again. Then we found The Deck - about to re-open after refurbishment and on the roof of the building I work at, the National Theatre. The team were so flexible and amazing to work with. We had 70 people in the day - close friends and immediate family, and another 30 in the evening. The vibe was fun and relaxed, with the best bits of traditional with modern, city twists.

During their big day, Aurora decided to give a speech that so many guests thoroughly enjoyed and commented on how lovely it was to hear from the bride!
