Inspiration

We're on the cusp of Spring, symbolising love, hope and promise, which is everything Millie and John's beautiful Anran wedding encompasses. They took inspiration from all the lush greenery surrounding the Devonshire venue and designed stationery and signs to match. They used seasonal flowers and took advice from the RMW Podcast as well as their suppliers. Today's RMW podcast episode is all about flowers, so might just be worth a listen - Enjoy!

What Made Our Day Unique

It was really important to have our friends and family being an active part of the day. So John's brother in law was our celebrant, John's cousin created illustrations, our friends DJ'd, a friend made our wedding cakes etc. It made it a really personal day (and of course we're really grateful that so many people stepped in to help us). We tried to balance the traditions and rituals that are really important wedding symbols without being held back by them. We were lucky in that ANRAN is not a licensed venue, so we weren't getting legally married on the day (we did that a week earlier in London). This meant that we were free to create a ceremony that was really unique to us and what we want our marriage to be about. This extended into the rest of the day – we had many of the traditional elements but took our own twist on them to make them meaningful for us.

Anran Wedding

Having an Anran wedding means your day is full of endless possibilities. After torrential rain the day before, Millie and John took the risk and enjoyed their nuptials outdoors with a beautiful ceremony by the lily pond. They then enjoyed their wedding breakfast in the stunning glasshouse before moving onto the cowshed to dance the night away under all the twinkling chandeliers for their evening reception. It was everything they could have ever hoped for and looks absolutely amazing to boot.

Inspiration & Styling

We really wanted the vibe of the day to be very relaxed – like a mini holiday in the Devon countryside, which was helped by the amazing weather! The inspiration behind the vibe and styling was the venue itself. ANRAN is so beautiful and full of greenery that we really wanted that to take centre stage, and that in turn inspired the rest of the styling. More generally we liked the combination of very modern elements (like the pared-back colour scheme and typography) with natural and "DIY" elements like the lavender on the menus.

Millie & John

Through The Woods We Ran were one of the first suppliers Millie and John found as photographing their wedding was really important to them. At the time, they weren't comfortable being in front of the camera, but Lauren and Glenn quickly put them at ease and captured all the magic. Finding suppliers you can bond with is so important not only on your wedding day, but also during your wedding planning process too.
