Sundari & Andy

Just a very quick introduction from me to say thank you to Sundari for writing for us – she really is a beautiful soul, both inside and out, and I’ve throughly enjoyed following her wedding planning story. She’s always written completely from the heart, with sensitivity and emotion and I feel like I’ve really got to know her over the course of her writing (I cried several tears of joy and pride while putting this feature together!!!)

I knew Sundari’s wedding would be incredible and oh my goodness you are all in for a treat this afternoon. Please do grab a cup of tea and get comfortable – there’s a whole weekend worth of images for you and the incredible wedding film too. Sundari, it’s been an absolute pleasure and all of the RMW team wish you and Andy every happiness. So without further ado, I’ll hand you over to Sundari…

Here we are guys. It’s been a long time coming! On the 28th and 29th May, Andy and I celebrated a wedding weekend of love, joy and so much more. Words cannot describe how blessed we felt to have so many family, friends and loved ones join us for an entire weekend. Planning the wedding was stressful, we encountered many issues that I’m sure many couples face – however on the day, we’ll be cliché and say – they really were the best days of our lives!

Transformation From Girl To “BRIDE”

I’m writing this next blog post in a slight KFC coma. “KFC?!” I hear you cry! Yes, I’m about 5 weeks until the big day and it’s fair to say I am NOT dieting however that hasn’t meant I haven’t lost weight from stress and anxiety. I’m also back from my hen weekend and just before that we finally had our engagement shoot (you can see some sneaky peeks on Dominique Bader’s Instagram feed).

Ok. So deep breath. Just 5 weeks left. How did that happen?! I feel a wash of nerves, anxiety and excitement. I can’t help but feel SO relieved that Andri will be taking the reigns shortly. And with our handover meeting under our belts my tension has definitely started to ease…

These last few weeks of wedding planning really are when the admin HITS. Final payments are due, contracts re-read, timings organised and final decisions are being made. It is all a little overwhelming and we’re just knuckling through it, but I can’t help but look back at the bliss I was in at the start of our engagement!

Being A Bride Is Hard

Hey everyone, I hope you’re enjoying the warmer sunshine, longer days and blue skies that March has begun to bring us, I certainly am. It is signalling a fresh new season and the countdown clock ticking away a little louder as we close in on May.

So far our planning has gone relatively smoothly. We finally posted invitations at the start of March, our menu tasting is set for later this month and our engagement shoot over Easter time. The main “thing” we’re waiting on are the RSVPs. They’ve slowly started to roll on in but undoubtedly we’ll have to chase a few.

Today, I want to talk about balancing stress, hiring professional help and the dilemma of being further down the line and deciding that you need someone. You know why?! Because being a Bride is really darn hard. I am admitting to being stressed, crying in front of suppliers, crying alone and generally having a tough time balancing all the tasks I need to carry out. Anyone else…?

My Big Fat Hindu Wedding

It’s Fern here, before I pass you over to the lovely Sundari, I just wanted to say that whatever type of wedding you are planning – this is such a heartfelt, honest post that I think lots of Brides will relate too. It’s also a fascinating insight into a type of wedding ceremony I knew very little about, so grab a cup of tea and some cake, sit back and enjoy…

Hello everyone, me again. Hope you’re all having a great start to your year so far and getting all good to go for spring to be sprung! I personally cannot believe how quickly time is flying by.

So, over the past few months here on Rock My Wedding I’ve spoken in depth about our lovely suppliers, venues and style, which has all been mainly linked to our Sunday humanist wedding at Waddesdon Manor.

However, today I wanted I’d give you an insight into planning our Tamil Hindu wedding because I’m pretty darn sure there aren’t too many other blog posts that’ll explain them to you! I promise to try my best…

Getting Organised – 4 months & counting

As I placed my Christmas ornaments away, took down the beautiful tree and found myself ringing in the New Year with my husband to be, it dawned on me. “This is it! It’s 2016, the year I’ll finally be tying the knot to this wonderful man” then I have to admit, absolute fear gripped me. With now almost only 4 short months to go and with a few days until a trip to India with my parents booked, I feel like I’m slowly realising that our 1 year and 6 month engagement is coming to an end and the biggest event of our lives is imminent.

Booking Your Wedding Suppliers

Happy December everyone! The festive season is totally in full swing so I must admit, wedmin has taken a back seat for now but today I wanted to talk about something a little nitty gritty. Researching suppliers, booking them and dealing with your wedding budget.

With 6 months and counting until our own wedding weekend, I admit, I had a foot up above the rest in knowing whom we’d book but that didn’t prevent mountains of research I did before we made our final decisions.

It feels like when anyone asks how the plans are going, we both say “oh yeh fine, we had our suppliers booked ages ago!” and this is something I really take pride in and can attest to being totally in love with each & everyone we’ve chosen for our wedding. From our incredible videographer, Jon of Happy Wedding Films to the photobooth by The Flash Pack.

Tips For Styling Your Wedding Day

Hello again everyone! Can you believe it’s already November and we’re only a month away from Christmas?! I can definitely hear some bells jingling!

The focus of today’s post is about how to style your wedding and I’ve included some tips to help get your creative juices flowing. As a wedding stylist, I’ve always known that styling a wedding is something far larger than just the visual look of the day. It can be in the venue you choose, the music you select, the invitations you send, right down to your food choices. All these details come together to create a unifying story, which can help guide the rest of your choices throughout the planning process.

With two weddings to style, I’ve definitely had my work cut out! It’s a done deal that our Hindu wedding is going to be colourful and traditional, but our ‘white wedding’ offers much more flexibility to showcase our own true tastes.

A Hindu Humanist Fusion Extravaganza: The Venue Search

Hey there everyone, I’m back for another post packed with my top tips on those all important first few steps into planning your day. I’m going to take you through how I approached setting the scene, decision making and the exciting venue hunt as well as giving you a great sheet to print out and take along when you’re visiting venues for great questions to ask & information to have to hand when making your final choices.

By working in the wedding industry for a few years I really had earmarked some of the suppliers I definitely knew I was going to be contacting after Andy popped the Q! (I might be guilty of contacting our videographer before even getting engaged…I know…gasp!)

Whilst newly engaged Andy & I gave ourselves to time to just relax, let those first important people know whilst in Rome before we returned home and bombarded social media with all the iPhone snaps I’d been hoarding and dying to share.
