Planning

If you read Rock My Wedding regularly, you'll know we're big fans of flowers. If you can find another way of decorating a venue so beautifully, then I'll eat my (wedding) hat. We're seeing bigger, bolder and more exciting ways to use florals than ever before. It's all about floral installations, hanging displays and garlands, with people choosing to spend less on favours, gifts and fashion in order to blow the floral budget. You'll find lots of incredible florists on our Recommended supplier directory, with different price points, but today it's all about making a statement...

For The Ceremony

It's the most important part of the day and the first place your guests will see - make your ceremony space magical with lots of flowers. If you're getting married in a church and budget allows, we adore a floral arch over doorway, there really is no prettier sight and it makes for beautiful confetti shots too. To make even more of a statement, consider aisle details like installations along the base of the chairs, or floral chair back arrangements to draw the eye along the aisle.

And it's not just outdoor spaces either, if your venue has a stunning staircase or fireplace, why not enhance it's beauty with an incredible floral installation or garland? Florals are also a great way to divide the space of a blank canvas venue, or create a ceremony backdrop if the room doesn't already have an obvious focal point. (Think warehouse spaces, barns, halls).

For The Reception

When it comes to reception spaces, we're talking blow-the-budget here, so naturally we need hanging florals, as well as flowers all over the tables. This is really where your florist needs to guide you - they'll be able to coordinate the plans with your marquee company or venue. Bare in mind that installation work takes a lot of time and the final creations are heavy, this is why you should chose an experienced florist - every member of our Recommended supplier directory, has done installation work before so they'll be able to advise. Consider dressing tent poles too, this is such a gorgeous way to add even more flowers to the day. Table arrangements should be abundant and fragrant. We're going for impact here, so think about the experience for guests on every level. There's nothing more beautiful than the smell of fresh flowers.

If you're lucky enough to have a venue with separate rooms for your evening celebrations, then consider using florals and candle light to create cosy spaces where people can retreat from the party and have a drink and a chat. A chill out zone if you will. There's nothing more decadent that sipping champagne in front of a beautiful fire place covered in blooms.

If you're after a florist who will go above and beyond to make your wedding day spectacular, then you must visit our Recommended supplier directory, where you'll find a plethora of wonderful florists to help.
