Wedding

Lisa Baker: We work with lots of clients who want us to help them plan seriously stylish celebrations – from weddings and birthdays through to smaller events such as baby showers and anniversaries. Later this summer we will be adding a private party side to our existing wedding planning business and with this in mind, we wanted to showcase our signature style and so we decided to team up with some of our favourite suppliers to bring together an opulent engagement party which demonstrates how you can take a few simple concepts to completely transform a blank canvas venue and create a fun and memorable occasion.

Blush Pink Opulent London Engagement Party Inspiration

The concept for the shoot was an elegant and opulent riverside engagement party – the chance for a newly engaged couple to let their hair down and celebrate with their friends and family in a stylish and informal setting, framed by an iconic London backdrop.

Colour Scheme

So much of the inspiration, when it comes to weddings and engagements, focuses on pastels and muted palettes and we really wanted to show how it is possible to move away from these tones and create an elegant celebration using a rich and opulent colour palette. Not only would this transform our chosen venue, it would also allow us to have some fun and create impact. We threw a range of metallics into the scheme to bring an added level of luxury as well, but we decided to mix our metallics using rose gold, silver and even some gold. The colour palette was applied to everything from florals and furniture through to edible treats and paper goods – we even spray painted some ice cream cones with edible rose gold spray to make sure they fitted in!

Oxo II Wedding Venue

We chose Oxo II as the venue as we wanted a location with a beautiful London backdrop. You couldn’t ask for a more central spot, right in the heart of the capital’s South Bank. The venue itself is a blank canvas – white walls, wooden floors and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the River Thames with London’s iconic landmarks in the background – it really was the perfect backdrop. The venue itself is quite large and so we created distinct zones to utilise the space and also create a good flow for the party.

Decor & Styling

We had four key areas of focus for the party: - the beautiful lounge area creating a stylish seating area for guests to enjoy views of London whilst catching up with friends and celebrating the happy couple - an opulent and elegant bar, decorated with florals and framed with some beautiful rose gold shelving which included small details such as gorgeous glassware, candles and small floral displays - a dessert table with a number of bite-sized eats from the talented Monannie Cakes - a welcome and gifting table framed by large rose gold lanterns, balloon orbs and trays of champagne garnished with cherry blossom

Rosehip London Wedding Flowers

Rosehip London created the most beautiful florals, completely nailing the brief with large and impactful displays using blush, ox blood and purple flowers. They worked perfectly to frame each element of the party and show how a few bold designs can really bring a design to life.

Georgina Read Wedding Stationery

Georgina Read was our stationer as we love her minimalist and modern style, which incorporates a touch of luxe, and we felt it would be perfect for this shoot.

Great Hire Furniture

Our furniture needed to be of a premium quality, but also, we were looking to use items which were slightly unusual and different to the standard hire products on offer. With this in mind we teamed up with Great Hire who had just added a fantastic range of bars to their inventory and the silver bevelled bar worked perfectly for our scheme.

Classic Crockery

Classic Crockery provided us with all of our glassware and we focused on using a range of different glasses and trays in varying colours which complemented our palette, to create interest at the bar. This is a really cost effective way of styling a party - it’s amazing what a few different shaped and coloured glasses do to create an impact.

Monannie Cakes

Monannie Cakes made the most amazing edible treats for the party from a show-stopping ‘Yes’ cake, to doughnuts with edible florals, salted caramel tarts with edible gold and some beautiful macarons and chocolates which we displayed in ice cream cones.

Mr Flavour Cocktails

And no party is complete without seriously amazing cocktails so we turned to flarers extraordinaire, Mr Flavour who wowed us with some impressive concoctions including smoking cocktails and glow up refreshments.

Wedding Photography

The talented San Shawe was on hand to capture every element of the engagement party and her style worked perfectly for the occasion.
