Inspiration

This Bodleian Library wedding in Oxford is the perfect combination of contemporary and traditional. Incorporating many new, fun elements, such as a joint bride and groom wedding speech, and opting for timeless attire in the shape of bride Ali's stunning Sassi Holford Tamara wedding dress. Images come from the lovely Lucy Davenport whose light, documentary-style tell this tale beautifully. Plus the use of trees and beautiful florals to decorate the historical space is going to knock your socks off!

What Made Our Day Unique

"What made our day unique was only incorporating the traditions that were important to us. I love all types of weddings but for us, the gender roles, traditional speeches and top table format just didn’t feel right. Instead, we had my brother as a bridesmaid, Andy’s 9-year-old nephew as one of the ‘best men’, made a joint speech and had a friend’s top table. We also ditched favours. Instead, we opted for a bottle of one of our fave gins and a selection of Fever-Tree tonics on each table. We found a great personalised gin table plan on Etsy which was just perfect." - Ali & Andy

Bodleian Library Wedding

Oxford is doused in history, spectacular architecture and wedding venues such as the Weston, the Sheldonian and the beautiful Bodleian Library where Ali & Andy chose to have their stunning wedding reception. The rooftop has spectacular views of the spires, which designers Bigtop did a fantastic job of incorporating into the designs of the stationery and signage. It also made a wonderful backdrop for portraits captured by Lucy Davenport photography. Every inch of this Bodleian Library wedding will make you smile, it's hard not to when the couple as so evidentially happy.

Ali & Andy most certainly did things their way encouraging other couples to "Question traditions" and ""incorporate the bits that are right for you.". They also did their homework when it came to selecting wedding suppliers, including scouring our wedding directory, The List. Make sure you take a look too.
