Inspiration

The skies are grey and the temperatures are set to plummet, there's even talk of more snow! But this Bohemian Winter inspiration shoot by Pretty Creative and Amy Faith Photography is certainly making up for the lack of sun during this Easter Spring Bank Holiday. It's cosy, it's beautifully styled with Nordic influences, and proves even the moodiest of days can be the best of days. The Lakeside views full of tipi's is utterly divine and a reminder marquees are not just for Summer. The greenery decor perfectly compliments the surroundings and I love all the geodes, feathers and cotton bud twigs added for texture and luxe against all the natural beauty. Now if you're trying to avoid the chocolate this is the perfect way to curb your craving but fill the void. Utterly delicious from start to finish. Enjoy.

The Inspiration

Rebecca the stylist: The shoot took place at Delamere Events a gorgeous lakeside tipi venue in Cheshire. We were looking to create a bit of a Nordic, winter, boho feel. The stunning tipis by All About Me created the perfect setting, heavily decorated with ferns, dried hydrangea, lots of moss, feathers, bark, lichen and branches by Living Colour Flowers. Lots of locally foraged foliage and blooms with some white orchids and cotton buds twigs as an accent. Crystal and geodes are becoming more prevalent in design and so I added just a very subtle touch in the place settings, trying to the keep the colours very natural and earthy. The gorgeous stationery by Emma at Hattie Boo Designs picked up on the nordic vibe and the conifer filled lakeside setting of the All About ME Tipis perfectly. We were really happy with the lovely brown and grey earthy tones of the shoot, lifted by an almost teal colour in the accessories, lake and foliage, even Buddy the dog seemed to match!

The Flowers and Foliage

Heather from Living Colour worked her magic as usual, she spent hours decorating everything from the tipi barn doors to table plan and THAT bouquet was to die for. I loved the natural un-dyed feather accents against the cotton and the earthy tones of the cosy tipis.

The Photography

Working with Amy Faith Photography is always brilliant, she’s like…”I’ve bought these cool sparkler bomb things” and she just happened to have battery operated fairy lights in her pocket (as you do!). She’ll be like “can we go in that muddy field, I think we should go right over there on the other side of the lakes, it will look great” She just totally got the brief and nailed it as usual.

The Dresses

The dresses are by Shikoba Bride and were perfect for the setting, they really suit brides with that wild adventurous spirit. We chose four quite different styles and each suited Beth in a different way, working perfectly in the setting with the bohemian nordic vibe. It shows you can have quite a wide range of dress styles for a tipi wedding. From quite delicate and floaty dresses to lots of lace and fringing, teaming them with heels or just a pair of good old converses. Shikoba Bride is a new British bridal label full of beautifully bohemian dresses. I’m really looking forward to the full collection launch online in January.

The Grooms Threads

I asked talented Kaye Hannabuss Textiles to be involved and as always she was amazing. She sourced some incredible tweeds and made Rob’s bespoke waistcoat and accessories to suit the theme. The greys and teals tying in perfectly with the feel.

The Beauty

Beth’s beautiful dark hair was kept very natural with a small twist plait and a natural daytime look with a more smokey dramatic eye as the day drew in and the lights went up. Clare from Harry Jon did a great job.

Recreate the Look

I’d say to take inspiration from the setting around you and the time of year, choosing flowers and foliage that fit that to create an authentic vibe throughout. Then maybe choose 3 complimentary colours or tones and work with those and variations of those in the rest of your details.
