Inspiration

Mel and Greg chose the picturesque Brickhouse Vineyard in Devon as their wedding venue so all of Mel's Canadian family could come over and enjoy the celebrations and country retreat with them. They kept a tight hold of the budget by DIYing decor and wearing high street bridal separates - in their own words - Stick to your budget, compromise with your partner (it's their day too) and don't worry what other people will say or think. Your wedding is a celebration of marriage for you and your partner :) What amazing advice, and relevant to every type of wedding, be that big or small.

What Made Our Day Unique

As I'm from Canada and Greg is originally from the Forest of Dean we wanted to find a venue that was in the country and somewhere my family hadn't visited before, so they could make the most of their time in the UK. Some of the Canadian traditions were a bit different to over here so that was a lot of compromising! We just wanted a very relaxed day and I think we achieved it, we had quite a quick ceremony and then just wanted everyone from near and far to have a great party.

Brickhouse Vineyard

Tucked away in the Devon hills is the stunning Brickhouse Vineyard, the perfect private wedding venue for you and your guests to relax and enjoy the countryside. Along with Mimosa Photography, Mel and Greg made full use of the idyllic setting with lots of couples portraits amongst the vines. They decorated their stretch tent reception with DIY decor and fairy lights. And Mel looked so at ease strolling around the venue in a pastel blue skirt and white lace top.

Inspiration & Styling

Greg's only ask was that there be craft beer and mine that there was live music and great candid photography. That kept the vibe very casual, we embraced our natural surroundings, in the beautiful vineyard and roundhouse, and used only flowers that were in season, plants for our table numbers (like Pretty fly for cacti) and beer bottles and cans as centrepieces on the tables. We just wanted to have fun and we really just wanted our guests to have fun!

Favourite Moments

The speeches were my favourite part of the entire day. The amount of love and outpouring of emotion in them was something we will cherish forever. We had amazing speeches from the Father of the Bride, the Maid and Matron of Honour, the Best Man and Greg. There was so much laughter and so many happy tears!!
