Inspiration

Cripps Barn is just made for winter weddings. Huge fireplaces, lots of nooks for an abundance of candles and cosy spaces for dining once night falls...it really is a magical place. Gorgeous Bride Jessica looks divine in a minimal, sophisticated gown by Stewart Parvin and her bridesmaids in cornflower blue skirts are SO on trend. This look is universally flattering and we think blue is set to be huge for bridesmaids next year (our very own founder Charlotte O'Shea said so on our podcast)! The dreamy images come from David Jenkins who shoots regularly at Cripps, and you can really tell. Everything feels so natural and beautiful, and that winter light is just breathtaking!

Winter Wedding At Cripps Barn

Jessica & Ollie:We held our wedding at Cripps Barn, Bibury. They also arranged all the food: smoked salmon and cucumber salad, delicious roast beef and dauphinoise potato with creme brûlée to finish. They catered for all our veggies and vegans with amazing food for them too.

The Colour Scheme

We didn’t really have a colour scheme in mind, it just sort of evolved during the planning. We wanted simple whites and greens for the flowers, the bridesmaids were in a cornflower blue colour, the groomsmen ties were a dusty purple, it all came together in the end! Other than the flowers Jess designed and made everything on the tables, place names, table names, seating plan, all the signs for cakes/confetti/sparklers etc.

The Flowers

We used a local flower farmer/florist called Nectary Hill. Jess wanted a giant green bouquet that wasn’t too structured and they got it spot on. The bridesmaids had crowns of eucalyptus that looked really striking. All the buttonholes were slightly different which was a really special touch. We loved the table flowers, big bunches in simple jars. Family and friend took the flowers home at the end of the night and they lasted for ages.

Bridesmaids In Cornflower Blue

Jess had 9 bridesmaids and didn’t want them all exactly the same (as they are all fabulously different women!) so they had matching skirts from Tulle & Chantilly and chose their own tops. The flower girls wore little tulle dresses with fur coats from monsoon and silver converse boots. The page boys wore navy chinos and bow ties.

The Ceremony

Jess’s brothers played the guitar as she walked down the aisle, we had Jess’s godmother and Olly's dad doing readings. The ceremony was really intimate, held in the Barn with a roaring open fire.  We had a violinist and cello playing during the reception, then a DJ in the evening playing crowd pleasers into the night. Our first dance was sky full of stars by Coldplay, a very special song to us and the Barn was lit up with stars as it played, totally spinetingling.

The Food

Canapés, dinner and cake were all arranged by the venue (made life so much easier, and was incredible food), our cake was made of cheese and was served as a late night snack with bread and meat later in the evening. We had homemade chutneys and pickles made by family. We also had a cake table full of homemade goodies also made by family and friends, this went down so well!

The Photography

David Jenkins did our photography, he captured the day perfectly and we absolutely loved his relaxed documentary style. The pictures are so artistic and stylish, we are so happy with them. He was also great to have around on the day, seemed to know exactly where to be to get the right shots!
