Carina & Kyle

Well hello there pretty people in your stunning lace Pronovias gown, traditional tails and mis-match pastel gowns. I never seem to tire of these delicate ice-cream hues and the pure timeless elegance of sartorial attire, each time I see it, it’s always done slightly different and the personal touches added are always SO lovely.

In fact this whole wedding is just adorable from start to finish; with family & friends all chipping in to help with the creative DIY decor in the rustic marquee reception and the Bride designing the wedding stationery herself with a cheeky nod to her Harry Potter obsession. But how can I forget the fabulous ‘something blue’ Rolls Royce gifted to the Bride as a surprise by her Mum & Dad….. SO special.

Bride Dress

Carina The Bride: I really wanted a classically styled dress that wouldn’t age when I looked back through photographs. As soon as I put Diango by Pronovias on, I knew it was the dress, I just loved it; the look of the lace was so romantic and timeless, and I really liked the v neckline and shape of the dress as it really suited my figure.

The Grooms Attire

Kyle wears a suit to work every day, so he really wanted the traditional morning suit so he felt special on the day.

The Venue

When looking for the venue, I loved the idea of a rustic barn, and Kyle loved the idea of a marquee. When I was younger I worked with the caterers I used for the wedding, http://www.themixingbowlcatering.co.uk/, and Priory Hall was one of the venues I worked at with them. I remembered how pretty Priory Hall was and as soon as I saw it again I just fell in love, it was perfect. It captured what we both had in mind for our wedding day; the house is a Tudor hall so really old and rustic with all its beams, and there is a marquee in the grounds where the reception is held. It combined both of our ideas without having to compromise. The grounds of Priory Hall are amazing as it sits on the edge of Constable Country, so really breathtaking. I knew we would have some lovely photographs getting married there.

Colour Scheme/Décor

As I’ve trained as a graphic designer and now work as a children’s wear designer, colour and design is really important to me. I wanted the styling of the wedding to be really feminine with a relaxed rustic feel; that styling really resonates with me and it was important that the wedding reflected our personalities. So I combined floral elements with wood and hessian and tried to keep everything looking light and romantic. I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan, and wanted to get this in somewhere too! I didn’t want it to be obvious so used key parts from the Harry Potter books for the table names. When it came to the colour scheme, I’m really not keen on bright colours, and pretty pastels fitted in with the romantic feel I was trying to achieve.

Florist

The main bouquets were arranged by Miss Lily’s she is a local florist and when I saw her portfolio just really liked what she had done.

For our centerpieces, we were so lucky that one of my Mum’s friends offered to organise and arrange the centerpieces and buttonholes. She did a fantastic job and were both so pleased with how they looked.

The Wedding Party Fashion

The idea of having the Bridesmaids in different colours and different dress designs really appealed to me. I’d seen a picture on Pinterest and just really liked it. It also felt a little less formal and tradition, and liked that it felt more relaxed than if they’d all worn the same colour/design. The Groomsmen wore the same as Kyle but wore pastel blue cravats and pocket squares to match my Maid of Honour, Beth. Kyle wore an ivory cravat and pocket square so he was natural, different to the Groomsmen and wouldn’t clash at all with my bouquet.

Ceremony

Our readings were by my Aunty, Charlie Wood and one of Kyles friends, Daniel Mitchell.

Food

The caterers are good friends of mine. I use to work with them and knew how good they are at catering for large groups of people.

The cake was a wedding present from my Mum’s friend. We had cupcakes which Jo made and decorated in the colours of the Bridesmaid dresses, and added a delicate detailed design to the top of the cakes. She made a top cake for us to cut, which had a pink sponge inside. They were so pretty I didn’t want anyone to eat them! The cake was really yummy and everyone really enjoyed them.

Photographer

I’ve known Kathryn for a while as I use to work with her before she became a professional wedding photographer. She originally trained in fashion and is a total perfectionist. Her photographs are really light and pretty which I knew would work well with our venue. We also didn’t want a traditional photographer and her way of photographing is really natural and relaxed which was perfect for us. We are so pleased with our photographs, they are so pretty and exactly what we wanted.

Surprise

The biggest surprise for our wedding was my Mum and Dad buying my something blue. They contacted me at work about a month before the wedding, and asked me to pop in on my way home as they had a surprise waiting for me. When I arrived, there it was, a blue Rolls Royce! Most Brides have a blue garter……I had a blue Rolls Royce!

DIY

Our wedding was literally a big DIY project. Most things I made myself or family and friends got involved. When planning your wedding don’t be afraid to ask family and friends with talents to help. I know my family and friends felt really honored to be asked and be involved. They provided their talents as a wedding present which meant a lot to us and made it more personal, so every part of our wedding was meaningful and special to us.

I am so grateful to all our family and friends who made our day so special. It was the most incredible day of our lives.

    1. Hi Sarah

The Dresses were from an Etsy seller called OkBridal but I don’t think they are trading anymore as the Bride didn’t provide a link to their page.

Hope you find what you’re looking for…..
