Inspiration

We're more than a little star-struck with this Scottish celestial wedding. The astrology themed stationery by Laura Henderson beautifully complements the colourful patterns of Mount Stuart's chapel floor and constellations of stars adorning the marble hall ceiling, plus lots of additional understated and elegant sartorial elements to further enhance its beauty, including the seasonal autumnal flowers, and bride Sarah's incredible Lihi Hod wedding dress. Ready to fall in love? Thought so.

What Made The Day Unique

In mid-2018, after 12 years together, Gavin and I moved 200 miles north to our new farm and home in the beautiful Scottish Highlands – along with our 130 cows and dog Max. We celebrated the end of a pretty challenging decade with a magical autumnal island wedding at Bute's spectacular Mount Stuart. Every unique detail reflected something of our story. The hand-illustrated invitations, Max as ‘Best Dog’, the humanist ceremony, our favourite song, the secret vows, the celestial theme, the local Scottish ingredients, the first dance to a song about cows, the surprise firework display revealed by bagpipes…!

Celestial Wedding

The beautiful celestial wedding decor and styling was inspired by Mount Stuart’s stunning interiors of rich, dark jewel tones, sumptuous velvet, contrasting white marble, teal and gold star-imbued ceilings. And every last detail is going to make your jaw hit the floor. Plus they have a Horoscope Room which fits the theme perfectly! Complementing the venue's beauty and celestial wedding decor were seasonal wedding flowers consisting of foliage, chocolate cosmos flowers, berries, mossy green and pink hydrangeas with soft peach and dusky pink David Austin roses, all designed by the talented Myrtle & Bracken. Plus I love how dark and mysterious the bouquets look against the bridesmaid's pale pink layered tulle skirts and vintage-inspired sequin tops, not to mention the delicate lace of bride Sarah's 'Sophia' Lihi Hod wedding dress. And talking of Sarah's bridal outfit, have you seen her tassel Aquazzura shoes yet? Together, she looks wonderfully demure and reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour.

Wedding Suppliers

The List was the first place I looked – lots of great suppliers in one place. I'm a big fan of Craig and Eva Sanders’ fine art style of wedding photography - they were the first suppliers I booked, along with the amazing Yvonne and Steve, Cherry Tree Films. As we’d adopted Max from Dogs Trust, we decided to make a donation to Dogs Trust instead of splashing out on favours. They provided pin badges and cards - and a ‘Best Dog’ bandana! I also (painstakingly!) made every guest a golden origami star box, filled with chocolate pearly 'planets' and silver 'moons'.

Sarah & Gavin
Sarah & Gavin's ultimate wedding aim was to be memorable. They visualised themselves on their wedding day looking around at their family, friends and each other and ensured when wedding planning they created unique moments that would make guests smile, laugh (or cry) and that everyone would remember forever. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing wedding pictures full of emotion and amazement which Craig and Eva's captures are full of.
