Inspiration

Holy swoon, this quintessentially classic English wedding is SO ridiculously beautiful I don't know what to talk about first. I will say watch out for the gorgeous entourage of Bridesmaids, each lady looks absolutely stunning in a different gown, but totally coming together and complimenting the elegant blue and white colour scheme. Also cuteness overload form the flower girls in delicate flower crowns, Converse and matching gowns with blue sashes. Serious squad goals all round. The rest of the wedding at stately home Prestwold Hall is just as classic and idyllic, with Bride Charlotte Adams (American designer for Lilly Pulitzer) adding to the pretty with bespoke napkins designed by herself for all their guests. Not to mention designing the stationery and adding the print to her wedding veil. All of the delicious details were captured by Georgina Harrison Photography's who's fine art style adds an air of romance to this timeless wedding and couldn't be more perfect. So sit back relax and get those pinning fingers ready, because believe me, you're going to want them.

Dresses

Charlotte The Bride: The wedding took place the at 5pm. All of my (10!) bridesmaids came to sip champagne and get ready with me. They all chose dresses in our colour palette that best fit each of their personalities, as well as gifted earrings to match. My dress was designed by, now one of favorite duos, Nedenia Hutton Craig and Stephanie Brag of Dee Hutton. They worked with me to create my beautiful silk faille gown, complete with pockets. In an added special touch, I hand painted my silk veil with the flowers at our wedding as well as Alex and my favorite flowers, tulips and lilies.

Colour Scheme

We chose our colour scheme because of the timeless elegance of blue and white. White is so classically bridal but with the added softness of the light blues complimented the time, setting and nature of our wedding

Florist

We chose Michele Gledhill flowers and styling as our florist because of her innate ability to transform the spaces she designs with the most beautiful flowers, taste and design. She carefully took our vision and with her talent, made it a reality.

Ceremony

The ceremony was at 5pm and completely organized by the groom in the same family Church, St. Andrews where he was christened. Alex’s dad read ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling which was a favorite moment.

Food

The cake was made by Leanne Kelly of the Whimsical Cakery. All of the food was catered by Prestwold and head chef Marcus Lockwood and the event was organised and coordinated by their amazing GM MJ McMullen and her assistants, Lucy and Stacey.

Photographer

We chose Georgina Harrison as our photographer because we loved how she is able to capture her subjects on their happiest day with such beautiful light, gentle styling and ethereal atmosphere. Georgina's photography so effortlessly and elegantly preserves a special moment in time into a dreamy, beautiful memory we will cherish forever."

Our Romantic Journey

Alex and I met at a cafe whilst I was studying abroad in Provence and he was on holiday with his family. Dare I say it was love at first sight? After rendezvousing for a couple weekends after that, we met for a final time in Paris and decided to make long distance work. And we did. We travelled back and forth from Edinburgh, where Alex was finishing university to Philadelphia where I had just started a job as a textile designer for a women's clothing brand. We travelled back and forth every 10 weeks or less for almost 2 years before Alex moved to Philadelphia in September 2014. We got engaged in my hometown (Kansas City, Missouri), when Alex surprised me on my birthday. We were walking my dogs and he proposed to me in a rose garden in my favorite park where my parents got engaged. We decided to get married at Prestwold because it was Alice, Alex's mother's childhood home and as he had been living in the states, we knew it would be special to have the wedding at such a meaningful, beautiful place.   In traditional American form, we had a ‘rehearsal dinner’ the night before at the cowshed-turned event space on the property, complete with Pimm's, a hog roast and a jazz band.
