Charlotte & Paddy

Elegant black tie weddings are fast becoming one of our favourite looks on RMW at the moment. First adopted by our American friends and finding their way over the Atlantic ocean to grace our beautiful wedding features too. The groomsmen opt for dapper tuxedos and the bridal party gowns are always absolutely jaw dropping. This is certainly true of bride Charlotte in her lace Badgley Mischka wedding dress with detachable train. Seriously, wow! Charlotte and Paddy compliment their attire with a timeless grey, white, greenery and gold colour scheme, and together with Mood Events and Floralearth they style the marquee at Tullyveery House in N. Ireland with epic results. Think greenery table runners, hanging installations and romantic taper candles. Now get those pinning fingers ready because The Lou's have captured it all to perfection.

Dress

Charlotte the Bride: After visiting so many beautiful boutiques, I hadn’t found quite what I was looking for. One of my last appointments was at the gorgeous Petticoat Lane where I spotted the Badgley Mischka, and I knew before I even put it on that it would be my dress! I hadn’t seen many dresses with a detachable train which was really different, but I also loved how timeless it was when this came off. With it being late October and a bit chilly at night, I found an ivory cropped cardigan at Pure Collection which I wore in the evening. I kept the accessories quite simple and wore Chanel earrings and a gorgeous pair of shoes from LK Bennett. I still think they were the comfiest heels I’ve ever owned, I managed to keep them on all night!

Groom’s Outfit

We always thought black tie would be so timeless and it fit the style of the wedding. We loved the Remus Uomo tuxedos from Red Grooms, which we paired with a Mrs Bow Tie. Paddy always admired his Granda’s Oliver Sweeney shoes when he was little, so he wore a pair from Sweeney London for the big day as a bit of a sentimental touch. His groomsmen also surprised him with personalised cufflinks from the same jeweller we bought our rings which were so thoughtful.

Venue

We fell in love with Tullyveery House as soon as we got engaged. It’s a gorgeous Georgian house which had a fantastic marquee with so many beautiful grounds for photographs and places for guests to explore. It was the perfect venue for our Autumn wedding.

Decor

I’ve always loved looking at wedding styling and was so excited to plan this part. Even though we got married in Autumn, I loved the idea of whites and greys with greenery and gold accents. I thought these would be timeless when we looked back at our photos and I’m so glad I went with my gut instinct on the colours! Mel from Mood Events was always there to help with great ideas and she really pulled everything together perfectly. The marquee was a great blank canvas for decor - we had festoon lights on the ceiling which looked great at night, and Mel and our florists made a beautiful feature of our top table. It can be so easy with Pinterest to find loads of brilliant ideas and not know where to start, so we tried to focus on the style we wanted and stick to this so we didn’t get too off-track!

Flowers

Floralearth created the most beautiful arrangements for our day, it’s hard to know where to begin! We had soft white flowers with lots of foliage, which tied in well with the rest of the decor. My bouquet was so natural looking and finished off with ivory silk ribbons from Pompom Blossom. One of our favourite things was the stunning hanging arrangement above the top table/dance floor - it really transformed the marquee and made a beautiful backdrop for our photos. I remember when we saw the room for the first time being so over the moon with how every little detail was dressed perfectly with flowers and greenery, it was stunning! I can’t forget the ‘bridal wreath’ Tim made my Mum for our front door which was such a cute touch.

Bridal Party Fashion

I didn’t want traditional bridesmaid dresses so I was happy to find the most beautiful ones on ASOS. They were simple and modern at the front but had stunning low backs with big bows, and the pale grey matched the styling so well. When they arrived and I caught a glimpse of them I knew they were perfect! The girls all picked their own shoes and Lynette styled their hair differently which I loved. My Mum also had a stunning dress and cape designed to tie in with us by Una Rodden Couture which she got so many compliments on!

Ceremony

Our ceremony was so special for us. We included special hymns and readings which had been at other family weddings, and the Lowry String Quartet played some favourite songs while we signed the register. We also stamped ‘To Have & To Hold’ onto little paper cups and brown kraft bags and served tea and coffee to go at the back of the church with the most incredible homemade treats by Paddy’s cousin Jayne.

Entertainment

Alan Scott entertained our guests at the drinks reception which was absolutely brilliant. Paddy chose The Gents for our evening reception, who played a great mix of old and new music which kept the dance floor packed all night! They also did a beautiful version of ‘The Book of Love’ for our first dance, which is really special for us. The best part of the night was a surprise performance from Paddy who sang a song for me with the band, I loved it! Later in the night we had a hot chocolate bar, a fire pit for people to grab blankets and toast marshmallows, and our guests made a sparkler tunnel for us which was so fun!

Food

We’re pretty big foodies so loved designing our menu with The Fatted Calf, who made the food so memorable and our guests haven’t stopped telling us how much they loved it! We tried to choose things that we thought worked for Autumn, and wanted to give everyone as much choice as possible throughout the day. I liked the idea of our cake tying in with the styling so Cake Couture created a classic white design with brushed gold effect, and finished it off with beautiful fresh flowers.

Photography

We were so happy to have The Lou’s photographing our big day, they were a real dream supplier for us. We were so at ease with them and had such a fun day exploring for photo spots and sun chasing in between the rain showers! Even though the weather had been up to all sorts, you couldn’t tell in the pictures and we got the most amazing sunlight shots which we were over the moon with. Their documentary style photos really captured our day in an authentic way which we love and will treasure forever.

Wedding Video

I loved watching wedding videos so much when we were planning and couldn’t wait to have one of our own. Soul & Rise did an incredible job at telling the story of our day - it’s so special seeing every detail and moment and it feels like we get to relive our day every time we watch it (which is a lot!). I think it’s a must have!
