Inspiration

Anybody else in total shock that it's September already?! I know I am! So we're defying the odds and rewinding time today to marvel at this beautiful Spring wedding at Cotswolds wedding venue, Merriscourt. Photographed by the wonderful Irene Yap who worked incredibly hard on the day to give Jo & Tom the most beautiful, creative photos that really do their rustic wedding day justice in every way. Capturing all the tiny intimate moments as well as the monumentous ones. Just wait until you see the confetti and sparkler exits as well as the wedding parties adorable selfies.

What Made The Day Unique

As a wedding photographer herself, Jo knew it would be quite tricky to do something that was entirely unique - hasn't everything been done before?! We've seen all manner of wonderful weddings and definitely took inspiration from those, but instead of trying to be 'different' or purposefully do something alternative for the sake of it, we decided to just go with what we truly love and what felt 'us’. Jo's initial priority, of course, was to choose a venue that would be photogenic and a brilliant photographer and videographer, so we thought a lot about light, but beyond that, we really just focused on having an amazing party for all our friends and family. We tried to think of ways to make it a little bit fun, like having singing in the ceremony and an ace magician for the reception, but still stay true to everything we enjoy normally.

Cotswolds Wedding Venue

Merriscourt is a beautiful Cotswolds wedding venue with an exposed brick barn nestled in the picturesque countryside. Jo and Tom took full advantage of the high ceilings and rafters and decorated it using giant balloons and fairy lights. They also chose lots of dusky pink and peach flowers and placed them in gin bottles for an easy, but pretty, DIY element, plus lots of touches of gold to included Tom's love of the Great Gatsby era. They also took full advantage of the onsite blossom tree making for some truly spectacular portraits by Irene Yap Photography.

Jo and Tom really thought about the light and photography when picking their Cotswolds wedding venue. A venue that might look beautiful but is super dark or tricky to shoot might not translate well on your photographs. If photography is hugely important to you too, it's definitely worth considering and doing your homework.
