Country Set Chic.

If you were already an avid reader of RMW way back in 2011 you may recall on-line dress design house Kitty and Dulcie, we had the exclusive on their initial launch.

Almost 18 months later they are still pulling out all of the reasonably-priced-frock stops with the new “Country Set Collection”, seven lovely gowns that are perfect for any bride on a budget or even as a second dress. (Yes, I did just actually say that…..but you may want a short flirty number for dancing?!)

I love the tongue in cheek styling, makes me want to don something pretty, flounce around the garden and pout seductively whilst perusing the pages of Wuthering Heights…..

Kirsty and Shelley of Kitty and Dulcie: Our First Strictly London Collection was so well received by our brides and we have learnt quickly what our customers want and like and so it was natural to seek our inspiration for the new collection from them. Sleeves were mentioned numerous times as was lace. We wanted to create more fun 50s dresses as our Pearly Queen has been so popular so we designed the Baroness Pearl and Dame Dulcie, both fun and flirty with a glamourous feel and pick up on the lace trend with the arm coverage that our brides wanted. For the rest of the new collection we wanted something new, so the 60s inspired short lace Lady Penelope and the 2 new long dresses bring more choice to our brides.

We continue to be able to offer amazing prices due to cutting out all the middle men but not compromising on quality.

Lady Penelope

Our 60’s inspired, lace shift dress is boned with a padded bust and has the most delicate, sheer sleeve detailing. This dress can be shortened by a professional seamstress to your desired length and is the perfect gown to twist ‘n shout and wave those gorgeous arms about.

So what are you waiting for? “Shake it on baby now!”

Lady Penelope Gown: £345

Styled With: Hippy Chic Forehead band: £175 at Flo and Percy, Shoes: Petra £165 at Rachel Simpson.

Our full length, lace embellished organza, fishtail gown with puddle train has cross over corset detailing, ideal for showing off an hourglass figure. It’s fully boned and has a hidden bra strap and padded bust. The appliqued trim can be removed by a professional seamstress, for easy shortening. We like to think of this ravishing number as mix of Little Mermaid meets Jessica Rabbit.

I think one would very much like to wander the grounds with some kind of cane item. And perhaps a sexy suitcase?

Let me know which dress is your favourite, I fancy the Lady Penelope for the name alone…

  1. Love love love these dresses! In thinking I’d love to have either Baroness Pearl or Dame Dulcie as my second dress (two weddings in two years, double the dress fun!)

  2. Totally beautiful – if I’d known about them before I paid 4 times the amount for my dress I would definately have gone to visit them. If they can make them this resonably priced and presumably make a profit is every other dress maker ripping us off? Would love to read a post on why some dresses cost so much more than others.

  3. Ahhhh amazing! I may have to blog about these girls too to spread the love of amazing dresses at AMAZING prices!! Queen Kitty is my fave, although that lace jacket is in my top five most gorgeous things of all time – I’m seriously pondering how to work it into my everyday wardrobe. Ideas anyone?? 🙂

  4. Thank you for all your lovely comments, please keep letting us know your favourites, it’s how we can keep giving brides what they want through your valuable feedback. In answer to Jol’s comments, we can offer amazing prices as we cut out all the middle men that are often involved, see here:

Please email us, we love to hear from you if you have any questions xxx

love n hugs Kirstie & Shelley xx

  5. Hi Kirstie,

Thanks, I’ve emailed and got some nice high resolution pictures from Flo & Percy so I can decide which goes best with my dress 🙂

  6. This might have just solved my massive dress dilemmas. Thanks for this. The website is very thorough too. Lots of pics and the videos help massively to get a feel for the dresses. Feeling excited rather than defeated about dresses!

  7. Just wanted to say that I think Kitty and Dulcie are fantastic! When I was looking for wedding dresses their City Slicker from the the first collection was on my hit-list, and so I ordered it for a try-on. I was so impressed by the service I received as well as the beautiful dress. Quality and design were amazing and the price… well, that speaks for itself – so massively reasonable! Ultimately I decided the dress wasn’t quite right for my particular day and the look I am going for, and I returned it without any quibbles. Very excited to see the new collection and particularly LOVE Lady Penelope! Keep up the utterly fabulous work x

  8. Oh dear god, I had a rush of blood to the head and went and ordered one! Not that I regret it, but holy moly, it’s a big leap. So far, service has been impeccable. Ordered on Monday night late, arrived Thursday morning! I am at work so I am only able to peek into the box. I am pretty much losing my mind, waiting to go home, find a helper other than the boy so I can get it on and see how she fits. From my sneak peek, all I can say is, there is a whole lot of dress in the box, definitely some tissue and it is all packaged beautifully. I can’t comment further until I get to investigate fully. Time seems to have stopped entirely…
