Deep Florals Wedding Inspiration

Jessica Beck: At Wed + Bash we like to do things a little differently. We wanted to create something modern, relaxed and editorial and we tried to ensure this ran through every element of the shoot, from the venue and flowers through to the hair and make-up. The decadent and unexpected shoot colour palette with pops of orange and fuchsia pink was inspired by the Dutch Masters’ paintings, most notably the infamous ‘Vase of Flowers’ by De Heem. The bold maximal florals led every element of this shoot, and our tablescape was overflowing with them. We used gold and black colonial-inspired accessories, allowing the colour from the florals and stationery to really pop. In line with the floral theme, our favours were botanical bath oils made by Leicestershire-based business, Hearth & Heritage, and are available on N.O.T.H.S.

Wedding Flowers

Wow, what can I say… Jenni (aka Jenni Bloom) is a true floral genius. Jenni’s style couldn’t have been more perfect for the moody, bold, maximalist brief for this shoot. Her arrangements in an eclectic palette with pops of intense colour had a bewitching and slightly surrealist feel - just like the paintings we were inspired by. Working with the venue’s original features, Jenni created floral installations to highlight The Grange’s striking staircase and fireplace.

Wedding Stationery & Cake

The stationery was created by the uber-talented Caroline Taylor Illustration. Caroline was the perfect choice for this shoot as her work regularly features the most amazing hand-drawn floral illustrations. Caroline also designed the prettiest of place settings, using dyed black Magnolia leaves with gorgeous gold calligraphy. When I landed on the floral concept I knew there couldn’t be anyone better to make the cake than the legendary Emma Page. Creating what I can only describe as a showstopping edible floral masterpiece from humble buttercream. The detail she can create in each and every individual flower is truly astonishing!
Tell us you're not ready to cosy up with your beau right now. And whilst you're there you should definitely indulge in more Dark Opulence inspiration. You can thank us later xx N.B Please note that The Grange does not allow naked flames inside the house. These images have been photoshopped.
