Inspiration

A secret garden celebration with boho vibes, Grace Loves Lace wedding dress and a delicious donut wall. Originally wanting a destination wedding, this couple changed their minds and held this sentimental summer BBQ in Berkshire. Neutral tones were present throughout, foliage bouquets for the bridal party with a leafy crown for the bride and stunning macrame decor that surrounded the space the couple said their I Do's. The outdoor ceremony began with the bride's Father walking her up the aisle to one of her favourite songs, later, during the speeches, the bride and her guests learned that her father had taught himself, during many late nights and hours of practice and having no previous experience, to play this piece of music especially for the big day...i'm not crying, you're crying!

What Made Our Day Unique

"We had our tipi wedding on 6 July 2019. Having originally planned to get married in Italy (planning a wedding overseas is much more difficult than you'd imagine), we decided to get married in the UK where all of our friends and family, and importantly grandparents, could attend. Despite going against our original plans of saying ‘I do’ in the Tuscan countryside, we still had our hearts set on tying the knot outdoors. We searched online for outdoor venues which were licensed to perform legal ceremonies and came across Wasing Secret Walled Garden which was only 30 minutes from home. My Great Grandma’s house had a small communal garden hidden behind the laundry shed which my cousins, brother and I used to call ‘The Secret Garden’, so this venue felt particularly special."

Donut Wall

The donut wall (or doughnut wall, whichever you prefer!) stood proud full of Krispy Kreme delights in place of a traditional wedding cake and was just the beginning of the delicious food for the day. Opting for an outdoor BBQ from Flame BBQ and live music entertainment over a formal sit down 3-course meal, this day was relaxed and chilled like the couple themselves! Guests could mingle and help themselves to as much food as they desired from either the hog roast or the amazing grazing table which was full of cheeses, dips, veggies and seasonal fruits! Delish!

Inspiration & Styling

"The day itself was like nothing I could have imagined. We love spending time with our family; at summer BBQ’s or local music festivals - delicious food and flowing drinks accompanied by live music is our idea of a good time! For our wedding breakfast, a formal 3 course meal didn’t feel like ‘us’ so we opted for a BBQ where guests could help themselves and eat as much as they desired! We created a laid back Amazon Music playlist to play in the background during dinner with some of our favourite artists; Ben Howard, Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons; we were able to freely wander around and catch up with our family and friends whilst enjoying all the delicious food Flame BBQ had to offer."
