Inspiration

We're fully aware weddings don't tend to be hugely eco-friendly events, but there are lots of ways you can reduce your carbon footprint if you'd like to... After all, “by us all doing a little bit, we can all make a big difference”. Jude from Wickerwood Farm enlisted the help of many talented suppliers to show you how an eco friendly wedding is possible without compromising on style.

VISION

Eco friendly Woodland boho luxe inspiration at Wickerwood Farm with mouthwatering low- and high-dining table set ups a vintage car and chandeliers surrounding a delicious cake!

WICKERWOOD FARM

"Tucked away in a quiet little corner of East Sussex is a wild wedding venue with a big heart. Run and owned by Jude, Wickerwood Farm is fast becoming known in the South East for its eco-conscious approach to hosting festival style weddings and it was this all-important message Jude wanted to highlight within her styled bridal collaboration there recently. The heart of this venue is a 3-acre lake displaying stunning water lilies and nestled within 14 acres of beautiful woodland. It’s a secret, peaceful place, home to all kinds of wildlife and species of wildflower and is exclusively available for wedding blessings right on the water's edge - it’s this place that inspired me to show it is possible to host weddings that aren’t damaging to the environment or its inhabitants. I knew the most important element of this shoot was in the choice of suppliers. Not only was it important to keep the carbon footprint down but it was equally as important to find suppliers with a similar ethos to Wickerwood Farm as well as being distinctive in their work. The process of sieving through an array of local wedding suppliers soon began and over a number of weeks the mother of all suppliers was in place, it was starting to look like this shoot could seriously help put Sussex on the map! " - Jude at Wickerwood Farm

Eco Friendly Wedding

Many of the talented wedding suppliers at this woodland luxe shoot applied their skills with an ethical approach. Flowers were homegrown and dried, the rusted letters were cleverly created from felled tree trunks and tables were upcycled using reclaimed floorboards. Many vintage items were also sourced and used, including the beautiful tableware which adds a touch of elegance to the woodland setting. And not a yarn was wasted when creating the macramé backdrop and chair backs. There is so much to marvel and consider, we strongly suggest taking your time over every gorgeous detail.

SETTING THE SCENE

"Why have one ceremony arch when you can have two!? Continuing with the sustainable approach, I set about designing two arches both with timbers sourced from around the farm. Both designs were quite different, one you might find elements of in California with its huge rustic, bold triangle with an extravagant display of pampas and palm created by Anna from Tales From, a perfect design for large open spaces such as our reception area here at Wickerwood Farm. The other a little more bohemian-inspired, a silver birch frame nestled amongst the tree line, right on the water's edge. An intimate display of bona fide seating and authentic Persian rugs from Hire Love’s collection sets the tone beneath the dappled light of the woodland tree canopy, it was a joy to style this scene against the mesmerising backdrop of the shimmering lake. It’s this kind of setting that I find hard to beat when it comes to outdoor weddings! " - Jude at Wickerwood Farm

“We’re all too aware these days of the impact we’re having on the environment and so by us all doing a little bit, we can all make a BIG difference”

Elena Popa was without a doubt the ideal photographer for this shoot, a documentary-style wedding photographer with an effortless knack for capturing her couples and their surroundings to the best of their potential. Her tones and use of natural light are just captivating. We're very proud to have Elena on our recommended supplier directory The List. Why not get in touch now.
