Inspiration

You lovely lot adore a bride with a braid, so Elena's beautiful hair-do is going to be right up your street. Not only is her hair gorgeous, and her pretty dress, but the whole wedding is like a dream. Set in a stunning Spanish Castle with a mosque, the photographs are just stunning. A festoon lit reception adds some sparkle to proceedings too. This pair totally changed their wedding plans because they didn't feel right, and we're so glad they did. This wedding is completely true to Elena and Curro, it's very RMW, and you're going to love it...

Our Story

Elena the Bride: Our story started at University. We both studied Biotechnology in Madrid. Actually, our story is the typical one, he was trying to have an excuse to talk to me, so he asked me for my class notes. And it worked! We went together to USA to finish our final project there. When we came back to Spain we split up because he went to Cádiz (he was born there) to finish his PhD, and I stayed in Madrid studying my masters and working. Four years later, we met again in Madrid, where we live now, and we decide that we couldn’t be separate.

The Venues

The ceremony was in San Francisco’s Parish (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz). The celebration was in San Marcos’ Castle, also in El Puerto de Santa María. We had a reservation with another venue and church in Madrid, but we fell in love with San Marcos’ Castle so we decide to follow our heart and change the whole wedding. Also we got married in the same parish where Curro’s parents got married 35 years ago.

The Styling

We decide to include lights as an important part of the decor, we choose festoon lights to create a magic ambience. We didn’t have any wedding planner, we wanted to participate in every step of the wedding. The bouquet was an unexpected gift from my father. He bought it in a local florist. I was planning to have a bouquet made of preserved flowers, but my father loves fresh flowers so I couldn’t resist his gift. I gave the other bouquet to my best friends during the dinner as a gift.

The Food

The fest was in San Marco’s Castle. We love the castle’s history so much, and it’s a unique place because it has a Mosque inside of the building. We wanted to have a long cocktail and after that a proper lunch at the table. We wanted to do this because we wanted to create a good atmosphere between our guest so they can talk to everyone. We had some starters from Cadiz and then partridge salad with peppers and glacé duck. All the food was made by Catering Davisson.

First Dance

Our first dance was in the Castle’s Mosque, we choose the song “Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N’ Roses”, we choose a soft version of the song. We choose that song because it’s Curro’s favourite.

Funny Moment

Curro’s cousin took their grandfather to the wrong church, they realised that another couple was getting married! He picked up his grandpa and took him to our church, running. Luckily they didn’t miss anything.

The Bride

My dress was made by Marcos Souza. I love the design and he did a lovely job. I wanted to include in my dress plumeti, a laced back, a pink veil...and he did it! My shoes were from Angari, I bought them the week before the wedding because the ones I bought in the first place broke when I was having my dress fitted. My engagement ring made by Aristocrazy, and also some earrings my friends gave me before the wedding, by Aristocrazy too. Sonsoles Flamarique did an incredible work with my hair and my makeup. I wore a headpiece designed by El Taller de Bagatela.

The Groom

Curro wore a blue cutaway coat by Sagaz. The plaid vest was made by Sir Lucky, and the tie was made by Harper & Neyer. His burgundy shoes were by Andrea Chenier.
