Inspiration

Apparently Britain is set for a cold snap this week, so we're loving this Spring, boho, festival themed wedding this morning. Radiating with gorgeous sunlight and love, and filled with the prettiest pastel floral arrangements and crowns. Be sure to stick around for the epic smoke bomb capture by Kirsty MacKenzie Photography too. Coloured flares are one of the hottest wedding trend to come out of 2018, which I'm sure we'll see continue into 2019 as well.

Spring, Boho, Festival Themed Wedding

Emily the Bride: We love music and festivals, especially Glastonbury. So what way to celebrate our love for festivals, the outdoors and music than to have a festival themed, rustic, boho themed wedding. I wanted it all to be very personal and understated. The important thing to me was for us and everyone else to enjoy ourselves, and get drunk! I didn’t really know what I wanted so scrolled through Pinterest and put together a mood board of what I liked. The theme was rustic / chic / boho and the colours reflected that with the white Gypsophlia and the pinks / dark reds giving it the woodland feel.

Church Wedding Ceremony

All Saints Church, Weston green, Thames Ditton, Surrey. I chose All Saints as it is our family church and my mum is very active in the church community. Both my brother and sister got married there and to be honest I just love it for the simplistic nature and it is also very close to our house so travel was easy! We chose to have a traditional ceremony but kept it up to date and modern where we could.

Conservatory Wedding Venue

Painshill Park, Surrey is absolutely stunning, as you can see by the photos, and I have always wanted to get married in the conservatory. Not only are the walled gardens a perfect private setting, it is also a blank canvas to which we could do whatever we wished, which was perfect for our ideas.

Mikaella Bridal Wedding Dress

I thought I had found the perfect wedding dress last year but when I went for the fitting I was told that I the dress was too tricky to be altered. So, 6 months before the wedding I went to Love Me Do Brides in Walton on a mission to find a dress. They picked out a gorgeous Mikaella Bridal dress for me which was perfect for me, but I always knew that I wanted a dress with sleeves. With the help of a very talented seamstress called Gemma McGlaughlin, I managed to create exactly what I was looking for in a dress. Gemma used the lace from my train to form applique sleeves. Not only was I in love with the dress, it is a great feeling knowing that nobody else has a dress like mine.

Boho Bridal Style

I always knew I wanted to go for the boho look and I was never interested in having a tiara or a veil. My hairdresser @the_hair_experience created a natural wavy curl, half up half down which I absolutely loved. The flowers and hair crown were from a local florist Buttonhole in Hampton Court where they used wild flowers such as gypsophila, eucalyptus and berries for the woodland feel. We added a few extra flowers to match the men’s buttonhole too. The bridesmaids had the same hairstyle as me however had bits of gypsophila in the back which looked amazing. MUA @tabi_sketchleyh went for a natural look so that it wasn’t too heavy and went for colours such as pinks and golds to compliment the flowers.

Wedding Photographer

Kirsty Mackenzie was recommended by a friend which made me feel really confident to choose her. After a bit of an Instagram and website stalking session, I fell in love with her work as soon as I saw it and her style was so me. Kirsty is absolutely amazing and she made what Danny thought was going to be a very awkward situation of having his photos taken, actually in reality very fun and relaxed. – the fact she had a videographer partner made it ideal as I wanted it all to flow, which it did.

Wedding Videographer

Alice Underwood Films was a recommend supplier from Kirsty. Again, I fell in love with her work and knew that her style would be perfect for our wedding. She stayed a little longer into the evening so I am sure she captured lots of merry moments!

Wedding Entertainment

We used Matt Strafford Duo as both our band and our DJ entertainment. They performed 3 x band sets and inbetween would be a DJ session. They were absolutely amazing and we’ve had so many people ask for their details. They got me and Danny on stage at the end to sing, I am pleased most people were drunk by then as I am sure we sounded awful.
