Inspiration

A relaxed, industrial style city wedding with a beautiful fairy light backdrop for this bride and her groom. Located in London this summer ceremony was held at Alfege church, with the couple and their guests then walking together to Greenwich pier for a boat ride over to the reception. Trinity Buoy Wharf played host to this beautiful celebration which was filled with fairy lights and flowers all put together by the bride with jam jar centrepieces on the tables and two gorgeous flower arrangements to sit on top of the wine barrels. The wine was extra special at this reception with the bride's sister living in South Africa the couple opted for a wine-themed table plan and named each table after a different South African vineyard. This allowed the guests to sample different wines across the tables that each complemented their meal and added to this personalised day. This summer city wedding is all captured perfectly by Helen Jane Smiddy.

What Made Our Day Unique

"Having a London wedding, and getting married so close to our home definitely made our day unique. We got married at a church in Greenwich that Rob and I attend, which was special. Our reception at Trinity Buoy Wharf was across the river with views of the river, which we can also see from our Greenwich flat. As both our church and reception venue had pier access, rather than brave the traffic of the Blackwell Tunnel, we decided to hire a boat to transport our guests between the two. It was something a bit different, and luckily for us, the weather held up on the day. Coming off the boat to confetti throwing and seeing our reception venue dressed up was a highlight for me. It was the first bit of the day where Rob and I had a moment to ourselves and it was great to see everything come together! "

Fairy Light Backdrop

Trinity Buoy Wharf provided a great backdrop to this day’s celebrations and I'm sure you will agree that the fairy light backdrop looks amazing with the beautiful flowers and hoop floral decor. Wanting to get everyone involved there were lots of DIY touches to this day, the groom made the wooden stand for the amazing cupcake wedding tower and the champagne celebration cake was also homemade by his family. This couple made a large bar sign out of wine bottle corks and even the ties were handmade out of African fabric for the groomsmen. The decor isn't the only part of this day that looked amazing the bride wore a stunning Enzoani dress and the groom looked dapper in his Burberry suit.

Inspiration & Styling

"We wanted a relaxed vibe that was personalised to who we are, and simple but beautiful. The venue definitely helped to create this. Trinity Buoy Wharf was the first venue we saw, and the fact it's essentially an empty white rectangular building (albeit it a beautiful one) meant we had no choice but to put our stamp on it. The summer garden at the front of the venue with deckchairs and views of the Thames also meant that our family and friends could relax outside throughout the day. Our venue came with a list of recommended caterers, so after meeting with a couple of them, we went with Jimmy Garcia, who also helped to set up the decor/ furniture on the day from Rustic Hire. The Dominos had played at a wedding we attended and loved, so it was a no brainer to hire them. Finding our other suppliers involved a lot of googling(!) and getting ideas from what others had done before us. For evening food, we actually had a pizza van which we found through a website that allows suppliers to provide quotes to you. It was an easy process, and the woodfired pizza was a highlight of our wedding."
