Planning

And by that, I mean alternative to your usual white and/or ivory often pouffy (which is very cute by the way) more "traditional" notion of a flower girl dress. My sister gets married in May and has three flower girls aged between 15 months and 5. Although she doesn't want them to match she does want them to "coordinate" in terms of a colour palette. She's keen on embroidery and florals (yay!) and doesn't want to spend a small fortune either - her entire wedding budget is £10,000. I have picked out my favourite flower girl dresses from the high street, all under £40 and all more than 'special" enough (in my humble opinion) to adorn your littles as they accompany you up the aisle.

I love the Heirloom collection at John Lewis, it's very erm...."Royal". The blue ditsy dress with matching knickers is available from newborn up to age 3. My sister is keen on the Embroidered Ecru gown from Next which is very Midsummer Nights dream esque - perfect for her wedding theme. For winter wedding flower girls how about a long-sleeved knit? because you know, it's cold...and bare arms and wispy chiffon isn't going to keep those goose bumps in check. This chalk pink fine knit offering from The White Company is simple yet ever so pretty. You could mix up the look (and the cosy factor) by the addition of patterned tights in a coordinating colour way.

Why not lemon yellow? gorgeous for Spring - or indeed whatever season you fancy. The corsage dress from NEXT not only comes in this sunshine hue, but mint green, bright pink, navy blue AND blush, available from age 3 to 16. Another floral favourite is the multi-coloured print dress again from John Lewis. This fancy frock would be perfect for all sorts of parties so your flower girls can get plenty of wear out of it long after the big day. Last but not least is the "May" broderie anglaise dress from Monsoon. Possibly the most traditional out of my choices and ironically, might be my favourite. Effortlessly timeless and utterly gorgeous.
