Inspiration

Keeping things close to home, this couple held their wedding reception in the bride's childhood home, with a marquee in the garden adorned with a floral chandelier and a beautiful foliage table runner! Guests watched the couple say their vows in the church 800m up the road, before taking the short stroll to where they were able to enjoy the views and the wedding speeches, which were incredible, evoking every emotion under the sun! And speaking of sun, the day was blessed with the most incredible sunset over the Devonshire hills, perfect for photographer Paige Grace to get those amazing shots! How wonderful to be able to create even more memories in such a special place!

What Made Our Day Unique

Our wedding took place in St Margaret's Church in Topsham which is where my parents were married over 35 years ago. A dream of mine from when I was a young girl was to have my wedding reception in my parent's garden as it was full of so many happy childhood memories, and so after the service finished, our guests walked 800 meters up the road to enjoy an evening of fun in a traditional marquee erected in a field overlooking the rolling hills of Devon. Our drive from the church to the wedding reception was very special. We were picked up in an Austin 7 from the 1930s by a local doctor, who didn't want a penny but asked that we make a donation to Hospiscare Charity - this charity is very close to our hearts as Justin's dad passed away the previous year and this charity had been a huge support.

Foliage Table Runner

The couple envisioned a day filled with flowers and foliage, and that they had! With foliage table runners on all the trestle tables in the marquee, the floral chandelier hanging above, beautiful floral displays at the entrance and even a flower crown for the bride, which she wore with her lace Margaux Tardits boho-esque bride dress and pink shoes! Wooden signs and shades of sage greens and dusky pinks were weaved throughout the day creating a soft, romantic and natural ambience.

Inspiration & Styling

We wanted a relaxed traditional wedding with a rustic Devon vibe. We are both big on plants and flowers and wanted to dress up our marquee with beautiful foliage/flower garlands and installations. The colour scheme was dusky pink, sage green and white. It was important to both of us that our day was chilled out and filled with as much laughter and love as possible - We knew this part would definitely be achievable as our guest list was made up of all our favourite people!

This couple wanted to create a natural and rustic look through colour palette and decor which would sit beautifully next to the rolling Devonshire hills. The abundance of foliage and flowers definitely helped, but using natural resources for decor like wood for signs and a cake stand can help keep things close to nature too! We have a really simple way to make a DIY wooden pallet sign for under £10 wich is a super-easy way to inject some personality into your day! rock my wedding forum
