Inspiration

We are bringing you all the goosebumps with this forest themed wedding, a day that is not only spectacularly stylish (and completely DIY-ed) but also a testament and tribute to the strength of love. Groom Will was diagnosed with cancer at the start of 2018, six months before he was due to marry Kirsty - his childhood sweetheart - in June. Too poorly to make the original date, the couple postponed their wedding until September, grateful that all of their suppliers were able to accommodate the difficult situation and new date. Wonderfully, Will got the all-clear before the wedding, turning the day into the most poignant and perfect celebration. We could not be more thrilled for this sweet couple, or more in awe of their epic styling efforts, which nail their rustic boho brief beautifully.

The Vibe Of Our Day

The day had a very rustic vibe. We tried to save money by doing things ourselves wherever we could; we did all our own stationery printing, collected empty gin bottles to hold greenery for the tables, dried rose petals for a year and made our own confetti cones, and even foraged woodland for greenery and logs to create our natural look. Our neighbour also cut down their eucalyptus tree before the wedding which was very useful! My Daughters of Simone boho wedding dress, complete with tassels, was perfect for the vibe of the day and our local florist, Brambles, created complementary bouquets that were wild, trailing and full of beautiful foliage.

Kirsty & Will

Forest Themed Wedding

Kirsty & Will are both obsessed with greenery and succulents, so having a forest themed wedding with plenty of natural décor was a no-brainer. And how wonderfully it worked. Nature oozes out of every gorgeous element - all of which was a DIY effort by our lovely couple, who even learnt the art of macramé! Suppliers were all selected because they were local or known through friends, and our newlyweds were so happy with their choice of RMW recommended Benni Carol Photography, who shared their love for natural photos full of greenery and woodland. As you can see for yourselves, the resulting shots are spectacular.

Favourite Moment Of Our Day

We had our ceremony in the village church next door to the primary school where we met 18 years ago. Walking through the village to the church with my bridal party, being greeted by lots of villagers who had come out to wave us along, felt very special. And I know its cliché, but seeing Will standing at the bottom of the aisle was just everything I had ever wished and hoped for. After the ceremony, we drove to the reception in a VW campervan and stopped off for some quiet woodland photos, which was a wonderful way to appreciate the moment. Seeing our vision of the tipi tent coming together so perfectly – and the nonstop laughter from our guests – are also things we’ll never forget.

Kirsty & Will
To wedding favour or not to wedding favour? Providing these little gifts for your guests can be a contentious issue; some couples think they're a must, others feel they're a waste of money. In Kirsty & Will's case, they found a fitting middle ground, donating to Cancer Research and Maggie’s on behalf of every guest, in place of wedding favours. What are you going to do? Remember, it's your day, your way, so you should allocate your budget as best reflects you as a couple. If wedding favours fit into this, our handpicked supplier directory, The List, has some lovely wedding favour ideas which will appeal to brides, grooms and guests alike.
