Inspiration

Happiness radiates throughout Andy and Andrews rustic gay wedding. Their smiles are infections, their green and white colour scheme luscious and their matching check suits fabulous. They decorate Northumberland wedding venue, Healey Barn with some pretty amazing centrepieces and flowers too. Including thistles to pay tribute to Andrew's mum Scottish heritage and retro postcards to remind them of places, they've travelled to. If you aren't smiling your way through this same-sex celebration, I'll be surprised.

What Made Our Day Unique

Part of what made our day unique was the little things we’d included that we personal to us and things we love. We’ve been to many weddings and always agree it’s these little, often quite subtle, details that make the difference so that was important for us. But a huge part of what made our day was the people. They really made the day. Even down to some people using drink tokens we’d made to bet on the length of the speeches... and the winners getting rather tipsy as a result!

Gay Wedding

Andy and Andrew's initials are the same, their bespoke suits are the same and their vision for their gay wedding was the same. Once they'd sorted their venue, Healey Barn, their next priority was choosing a photographer and booking a DJ. As without a great photographer to capture all those special moments they knew they'd be disappointed. Luckily for them, they found the fabulous Red on Blonde Photography who have captured some truly magical moments between them and their guests.

Inspiration & Styling

It was important that everyone was relaxed and had fun. And that it was unmistakably ‘us’. A few guests said you could feel the love and joy in the room which was the biggest compliment! Our styling was rustic meets sleek. We wanted lots of flowers and our suppliers nailed it – a classic green and white combination with thistles as Andrew’s mum is Scottish. We love craft beer so fresh hops hanging from the ceiling completed the look. Our tables were places we’ve visited with retro travel postcards with memories on the back and bottles of local gin. We were also really pleased with our branding with our font, colour scheme and logo. It started with little 'A+A' stickers on the back of our save the dates and we ran with it from there. That same logo was stamped onto wooden drink tokens on the day for example.

As Andy and Andrew quite rightly advise "It’s your day. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. Decide the things that are important to you and prioritise those." If you need a little help creating and allocating your budget, we have a great article which breaks it all down for you and is a great starting block. You're welcome.
