Inspiration

Woodland wedding venue, Camp Katur in Yorkshire has recently included a Geometric Dome to their setting and it's just gorgeous! Completely translucent so you can bring the outdoors in, whilst being protected from the elements. And completely gorgeous in its own right with its wonderful structure and uniqueness. Jen from My Pretties has shown us exactly how to take advantage of the space by giving us some gorgeous bohemian inspiration to drool over. She's hung stars from the ceiling, added a wonderful altar draped in fabric and included the sweetest tablescape full of natural decor. We should also mention models Phousa and Claire who are in fact a real same-sex couple and are just the most beautiful of brides in boho dresses by Rolling in Roses.

VISION

Soft, romantic, muted colours in the woods in a fabulous transparent geometric dome wedding venue.

INSPIRATION & STYLING

"I knew that I wanted to showcase a beautiful same-sex couple at Camp Katur's Geometric Dome venue and was very adamant that it was a real couple. I was so happy when our Stationer introduced me to friends of hers, Phousa and Claire who were happy to model and just so happened to be incredibly beautiful. I am still in love with the colour palette of soft, romantic, muted colours. They all complement each other so well. The multi draped fabric backdrop was one of my favourite styling elements and I loved creating that. I also loved the seating plan; I purchased all the vessels and gave Lo from Somers Creative an idea of what I wanted to achieve, and she did such a wonderful job. Flowers are always one of the most important details in all of my shoots, I am very lucky to work with some unbelievable local talent and Emma from The Petal Studio is my go-to girl for all things Boho! We used Anthurium's, Dendrobium and Phalaenopsis Orchids as they are becoming increasingly popular with the bohemian style. All in muted, earthy tones to fit in with the natural environment of Camp Katur. " - Jen Sawdon Mckay

Geometric Dome

Talented Jen Sawdon Mckay of My Pretties was asked by Camp Katur in Bedale, Yorkshire to organise a shoot for them featuring their brand new and exclusive to the UK, geometric dome. As the venue's recommended stylist and planner, she jumped at the chance to work at this really unique venue. The clear span geometric dome is a new exciting new space set within the venue’s beautiful woodland, the perfect backdrop for a unique and different wedding, allowing all the natural beauty and light to flood through its translucent sides. The Dome opens in March 2020 for bookings and can be previewed at Camp Katur's wedding fair on April 19th, 2020.

STATIONERY & SIGNAGE

"Stationery and signage for this beautiful shoot was inspired by the natural earthy tones running through the styling for the day, and the edgy boho vibe Jen created in her design. Making use of abstract shapes (inspired by the geometric dome) and painted textures, the invitations and save the date are modern and airy without being harsh, using a muted palette to complement the dressing for the day and give a romantic feel to the print. Rather than the usual menu, we created a bespoke fan (we love it when stationery is practical and pretty!) that was customised with menu options and printed to match the invitation suite. Complementary tasselled name tags finished off the place settings perfectly. The super romantic signage pulled again on the warm terracotta shades throughout the shoot, which worked so well against the copper frame and matched the wedding invitations." - Lo Somers at Somers-Creative

Real, same-sex couple, Phousa and Claire wore the most gorgeous dresses by Rolling in Roses from Glory Day’s Bridal. Both ladies looked stunning and gave a real authenticity to the bohemian inspiration. If you'd like to see more same-sex unions, boho inspiration or geometric dome weddings.
