Planning

If you're deciding how to wear your hair for the big day, then it's usually best to opt for a style similar to how you'd normally wear it. I think it's safe to say, most of us prefer having our hair down, and tousled waves are probably the most popular style we see at RMW. But if you want to take your look to the next level, a more polished version of your everyday, then here's some gorgeous ways to style those waves...
THE GAME OF THRONES THEMED PLAITS
Plaits and braids have been massive for a while, most probably thanks to the huge popularity of GOT. For this look Ione created a double braid at the back of the crown of the head, meeting in a fishtail, then added mini braids throughout the rest of the hair to add detail.
THE PONYTAIL WITH A PLAIT
A soft ponytail is really wearable and allows your accessories and dress to really do the talking. Here Ione french braided the top half of the hair, then brought together in a low pony at the nape of the neck.
THE TWIST
Here Ione twisted and pinned pieces of hair to give some hold, but with the rest of the hair hanging loose below. We also tied it up into a low pony to create a slightly slicker look. I love the textured created by twisting and pinning, it's like a more intricate braid and actually works beautifully with any length hair.
REVERSE CROWN BRAIDS
We all love the look of crown braids, but not many brides are actually going to pile their hair on top of their heads in a crown braid for their wedding day. An alternative way to wear this trend is to have the crown braids at the back of the head. Our gorgeous model, Candace, has a LOT of hair, so we could create three braids and still have plenty of hair to pin into a half up half down look.
THE LOOSE PIN
Although strictly not half up, half down, this look is one of my absolute favourites on brides as it starts to unravel throughout the day. There's nothing prettier than tendrils of hair falling on shoulders, especially when those shoulders are adorned with lace or delicate straps.
