Inspiration

Ever since bride Mel was a little girl and discovered some photographs of her great grandmother's wedding, she has been fascinated by vintage style, in particular, the Gatsby era. And so a Great Gatsby theme wedding was born, complete with finger wave hairdo, gramophone and champagne tower. Everything oozes glamour and sophistication, and is a true reflection of this couples love.

We were lucky that our venue Brympton House had a great onsite set of providers for coordination, flowers, styling, drinks and food - so we were able to focus on researching music, makeup and the other pieces using the RMW directory The List and a few other sites. We based our selections on reviews from other couples - but for our photography and videography we did a lot of research and selected BenniCarol for the photos and Groundfilms for the video as we absolutely loved both of their styles and were so happy with the outcomes - we must have looked at the photos and watched the video hundreds of times!

Great Gasby Theme

Mel and Max chose a Great Gatsby theme which suited the venue's history and their love of all this vintage. They opted for all white flowers with lots of flowing greenery and paired the blooms with black and white stationery and some vintage elements like a gramophone record player, typewriter and antique keys which they tied to each guest place card. Mel's finger wave hair and vintage lace wedding dress also complemented the 1920s era, making her look like a beautiful Hollywood starlet. Just like her Grandma on her wedding day.

Favourite Moments

My favourite moment was just before the ceremony where the nerves were building and Max had very kindly sent me a surprise gift (stunning diamond necklace and engraved matching glasses for each of us) and a series of letters to read which had me so excited to walk down the aisle towards him. Max's was the whole ceremony; having all of our friends and family channelling their love towards us when we said our vows. So much laughter and fun. Also seeing me in my dress for the first time, which he said will stay with him forever. Oh and the doughnut wall…
