Inspiration

Is there anything more intoxicating than the idea of eloping? The act of stripping everything back to what truly matters - you and your beloved, your promises, your passion - is supremely simple but heartachingly romantic, and this Hallstatt elopement will certainly leave you weak at the knees. Australian couple Sari & Daniel only have eyes for each other, which is just as it should be, and look breathtaking against the beautiful backdrop of the Austrian Alps. These stunning photos are intimate and exquisite, and feel as if they should be both private and public all at the same time.

The Vibe Of Our Day

Our day was so intimate, with just eight guests attending. We wanted the location to be the main focus and tried to keep the styling simple yet elegant, with a subtle fairytale theme. We were surrounded by the breathtaking scenery and golden Autumn setting of the Ödensee area, which was further complemented by the stunning décor at the venue. Our day went off without a hiccup and for us it came down to three things: our brilliant photographer Cat from Wild Connections Photography; our exceptional wedding planner Irene from High Emotion Weddings; and the amazing people, food and facilities at the Genuss Gasthaus Kohlröserlhütte.

Hallstatt Elopement

With quaint towns, alpine lakes and mountainscapes that sing whether they are snow-peaked or sun-drenched, Austria must be one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Little wonder, then, that Sari & Daniel travelled all the way from Australia to Hallstatt for their exquisite elopement. With the stunning surroundings drenched in autumnal colours, the couple experienced all four seasons over the course of their big day, the sun providing exceptional light one minute, before heavy rain flooded the deck where they were due to marry the next. But nothing could diminish the dream-like quality of their day - not even missing the shuttle bus that was due to take them to their ceremony!

Words Of Wedded Wisdom

Our advice to anyone who is considering a destination wedding would be to take care of the little things. This might include timing your wedding for the seasonal setting you are after; getting the phone number of your shuttle bus driver; having a contingency undercover/indoor venue in case of inclement weather; or keeping some bread on you for that magical wedding photo with the swans!

Sari & Daniel

The idea of an elopement fits so perfectly with the RMW mantra your day, your way. After all, your love is your story and your greatest adventure, and your wedding day is but a chapter along the way. Are you as in love with Sari & Daniel's small big day as we are? Our elopement archives have plenty more inspiration if you feel that less really is more.
