Inspiration

Nancarrow Farm is one of our favourite ever wedding venues, in fact, our very own Marketing Manager Alice got married there a month ago! Don't worry, we'll be sharing her photographs very soon. Today we have the beautiful Hannah and Luke's wedding, with a rustic luxe theme - black tie, twinkling lights and elegant fashion, with a dash of natural wood, and lots of foliage thrown in for good measure. The spaces at Nancarrow are so versatile, if you love it as much as we do, have a look at these Nancarrow weddings featured on RMW. I'll pass you over to Hannah to tell you all about her big day...

Nancarrow Farm Wedding Venue

Hannah the Bride: We wanted our wedding to be very relaxed, rustic and most importantly us. We married at Nancarrow Farm, Cornwall. Nancarrow was a dream venue of ours from day one. It is somewhere that has absolutely everything a wedding should have, from the grounds, to the freshly home grown produce to the people that help make it what it is. It went far past out expectations and I couldn’t recommend it enough!

The Food

The food was a selection of all our favourite things, Nancarrow made it clear that anything was possible. Being one of their biggest feast night fans, we knew it would be something special. A posh BBQ feast it was! I still hear about those Garlic King prawns now. The feast began and was followed by a trio of our favourite desserts, basically a trio of heaven!

The Decor

We made a lot of our decorations, It was much more satisfying knowing we had spent time together making it all for our big day. Luke made garden games, welcome sign, easel, ‘Order of the day’ sign and light up giant letters. He made pulleys for our scaffold boards which we used as our hanging shelves for the foliage and lights to go above the long trestle tables. I did all the intricate writing for the wedding signs. Our seating plan was our living room mirror written in chalk pen. Ta daa! The colour theme was shades of pale greys, pale pinks with a hint of gold. We made our grey chiffon table runners, sprayed real pineapple bases to hold our flowers and found photos of us at each age to correspond with the table numbers. Not to forget the macaroons made by my sister, hand written in gold with everyone’s names. I remember her saying after making 70 of them saying ‘I must love you a lot!!!’

The Flowers

The venue was blooming with its own natural foliage and flowers and I wanted this to flow throughout the decorations. We picked our own foliage from the gardens of The woods café which is owned by my sister and brother in law. We used these mainly for the hanging decorations, the tables and the door arch. Our bouquets were made by Kelly Ann’s Flowers. They created the perfect bunch of flowers to fit with our theme with roses, soft pink dahlias, jasmine, eucalyptus, stocks and my mum’s favourite freesias which were in the mothers’ corsages.

The Cake

From a family of cake lovers when we say cake, we mean cakes. These masterpieces were made by my very special sister, Lara, Ladyvale Bakery (Woods café) I left the cakes entirely up to her as I knew she’d be in her element. I’m so glad I did because just look at them! By the look of this year’s royal wedding they were totally on trend! She is so imaginative with flavours and presentation. She created a two tier sunshine cake, a chocolate cake, a peach and prosecco Victoria sponge. They all complimented each other as they stood at different heights with gold berries, pale pink macaroons and dressed with fresh flowers.

The Hair/Makeup

Some flowers were cleverly made into hairpieces, you’ll never guess who made them...my now husband! Who knew he could put his hand to bridal accessories. I had half a flower crown going around the back of my head with my hair down and old Hollywood soft waves styled by Anna Ingram Hairstylist. She styled all of the bridesmaids hair in a natural loose bun which the flower combs sat perfectly in, she is such a perfectionist and amazing at what she does. Being a makeup artist myself I was always going to do it myself, but I thought 7 faces including myself that was never going to be relaxing. If you can’t have it done on your wedding day, then when can you? I found a lovely local makeup artist, Amy May MUA who from the trial I knew was perfect. I couldn’t have done it better myself!

The Fashion

The bridesmaids all had different style dresses to suit them. We went for four different shades of pale grey and pale pink, each had their own bit of sparkle. They were all from high street shops. Our two gorgeous flower girls had little gold ballerina dresses, with appliqué lace which we added to the straps to match my dress and my very inexpensive wedding sandals which we customised. Nothing a bit of imagination and hot glue gun can’t do! Our three page boys all had white linen shirts, navy shorts and grey braces and bow ties. The men had navy blue suits, with navy ties and tan shoes. My dress was from Amanda K Bridal. It was something that I feel suited me and the venue, it fitted me in all the right places. It was ivory lace over light gold, I love how the appliqué lace stood out amongst its tulle skirt. I felt everything I wanted to feel as a bride. I never imagined having a veil but I ended up having a soft tulle cathedral length veil that sat perfectly underneath my half flower crown from a shop on Etsy called Blossom & Bluebird. I wore a Wanderlust moonstone necklace from a local shop Roo's Beach, which matched my great great aunts moonstone and gold vintage bracelet which I felt very privileged in wearing.

The Entertainment

The sunshine appeared and we were definitely getting married outside. Hearing Daisy Clark as my dad and I shared that excited ‘let’s do this’ moment is a memory I will never forget. Daisy is such a talented young lady and she will go so far in her career with a voice like that. We hired Sandy Acre 7, a local soul, funk, and jazz band. They had everyone on that dance floor and everyone commented on how much fun they brought to the party.

The Photographer & Videographer

Meeting Ben beforehand made it feel like we had an extra friend coming to the wedding. He and Mike blended into our relaxed chaos. Ben’s style of photography is something special. Something so artistic and that’s what attracted us, we didn’t want traditional shots, just snaps of everyone and anything in its natural form. We can’t thank him and Mike enough for giving us photos for life to look back on and enjoy every little moment all over again, exactly how it was. Lizzie’s short film of our day was everything we wanted; funnily enough Lizzie isn’t a videographer. However I had seen her work and couldn’t find anything like it. I’m so glad she took my pleading as a compliment; I well up every time I watch it. We were lucky to have another video of our wedding day, my 12 year old cousin Evie captured it without us knowing. For it to be sent to us a couple of days after the wedding was so unexpected and overwhelming, It is one of our favourite wedding gifts.
