Inspiration

If ever you need proof that strong colours and pastels work together, this is it. The colours of Jenny and Alex's wedding day are simply sublime - and even more so set against the backdrop of the rugged Northumbrian landscape. With a truly classic racerback Pronovias gown, stunning wildflowers which feel as though they've been picked that morning and the fabulous documentary-style photos from RMW recommended photographer, Georgina Harrison, this Healey Barn countryside wedding is both perfectly classic yet imperfectly rustic all at the same time. Divine.

Wild Flowers in Pastel Hues

Jenny & Alex: I was very keen for the flowers to fit in with the countryside feel of the venue. I wanted the bouquets to feel as though they’d been freshly picked from the meadow outside. The stunning result was a wild bouquet of light pastels but with a strong accent of the dark red worn by the bridesmaids. These fabulous florals continued inside the reception venue itself, with the clever pulley system inside RMW favourite Healey Barn allowing large flower bombs to hang and drop spectacularly from the ceiling. The rustic décor was further channelled in the foliage hoops hanging from the ceiling and the table settings, which mimicked Dutch paintings in that they contained fruit! The clusters of grapes and plums made the arrangements delectable.

Pronovias Wedding Dress with Embellished Racerback Detail

I wore an Atelier Pronovias wedding dress, paired with Jimmy Choo shoes. From the front, the dress was simple and elegant, whilst from the back the detail was breathtaking. The bridal party complemented this look beautifully, with the bridesmaids in burgundy Phase Eight Grecian-style dresses, the groom and groomsmen in navy morning suits, and the Mother of the Bride in a blush pink jacket and skirt from L.K.Bennett

Authentic and Romantic Photography

We wanted a relaxed documentary of our wedding day, rather than anything overly formal, and were thrilled to secure Georgina Harrison, whose style stood out to us thanks to her beautiful, artistic quality and natural, romantic style. The photos are better than we could have imagined and one of our top tips is definitely not to skimp on photography as so much of the detail of the day can only be seen and remembered by the photos.

Healey Barn Countryside Wedding

We wanted the wedding to be relaxed and to reflect the countryside setting. We love the landscape around Northumberland and were totally won over by the rustic yet romantic look about RMW's recommended venue, Healey Barn. We were able to use this theme to make decisions about the food and entertainment: large sharing platters of smoked salmon blinis, roast ribeye of beef served with dauphinoise potatoes and salad, and lemon tart was followed by ceilidh dancing - with a twist! The Monster Ceilidh Band are a non-traditional electro ceilidh band who really rocked the dance floor.

Simplicity, elegance and the beauty of the great outdoors never go out of fashion, and Jenny and Alex's gorgeous wedding is proof that sometimes, all you need is a little of the landscape around you, a smattering of huge smiles, and a whole lot of love.
