What Made Our Day Unique
We wanted to make the wedding day very unique and fun for the guests. The few venues we looked at just didn't provide the flexibility that we wanted so we decided to get married at my mother's house and use her barn and gardens. Almost everything was either customised or made by us which allowed us to keep costs down and get things exactly as we wanted them. From the dress to the horsebox turned photo booth, we had complete control which was great, and stressful, but it all came together on the day.
Home Wedding
When you have a home wedding, it pretty much means you have free rein over your vision too, so Emily & Dan went all out with their DIY decor and details including making a horse box photo booth and hoop seating plan. They also had signature cocktails and created the ultimate party atmosphere on Emily's parent's farm. The day looks glorious from start to finish.Inspiration & Styling
I wanted to try to achieve a relaxed English garden type vibe for the day. Our wedding was during the summer heatwave which allowed us to spend a lot of time outside, but also required us to water the grass for the days running up to the wedding! We arranged for Dominoes pizza to be delivered in the band's break and everyone was sitting on the grass with a box or two. The band were fantastic and we swung the barn doors open and danced the evening away. Alice, our photographer, and Bruno, our videographer, captured the day perfectly.
We love it when we read the wedding ceremony is a couple's favourite part of the day (it was mine too). But this wonderful ritual doesn't happen naturally, there's a lot of planning and consideration that goes into having the perfect nuptials. Read our wedding ceremony guide to ensure you're not forgetting anything.
