Your wedding day is all about chasing your heart, and this romantic Italian castle wedding is proof that when the heart knows what it wants, the mind will follow. When Australian couple Cindy and Jason couldn't find their dream venue at home, they looked across continents - and it took them only 15 minutes to find their perfect venue in the gorgeous green hills of Umbria. And we bet our bottom dollar they will be forever glad they listened to their hearts because the setting of La Badia Di Orvieto - amidst olive trees and vineyards - is sensational. Not to mention the incredible golden hour light the Italian summer blessed them with. Just wait until you see their couple's portraits. Stunning.

Silk Pallas Couture Gown With Cathedral Veil

My day-to-day style is quite minimalistic, and I struggled to find a wedding gown with no lace, embroidery or jewels. When I saw the Fayette dress on the Pallas Collective Instagram page I knew I had found ‘the one’, even before trying it on. Wanting to be modern and minimalist, I was adamant that I wouldn’t wear a veil, but I was convinced in my last fitting to try on a Roman & French cathedral veil with my dress. In the end I’m glad I chose to wear one as our friends and family later commented that seeing me walk down the aisle, with the veil softly billowing in the wind behind me, made for a dramatic entrance. - Cindy & Jason

Italian Castle Wedding at La Badia Di Orvieto

Initially we started planning a wedding in our hometown of Sydney, however, we couldn't get the idea of dreamy destination wedding out of our minds. Sydney just didn't have a venue that gave us any semblance of the backdrop and mood we were aiming for. After a disappointing site visit, we decided to look at what we could find in Italy; the food, way of life, weather and crumbling beauty was exactly what we wanted, and after 15 minutes searching for ‘Italian castle weddings’ we found a picture of La Badia Di Orvieto’s famous arch. There was a dreamlike romance to the castle, old monastery and grounds that convinced us this was our venue.

Did you notice how much fun Cindy and Jason's first dance looks? Instead of a conventional slow dance, they surprised their guests by dancing to the Zorba, a move Cindy describes as "the craziest, messiest, most laughter-filled dance of our lives!" And hands up who's adding a prosecco tower to their wedding wish list? If, like Cindy and Jason, you don't have a sweet tooth, there are plenty of alternatives to a traditional wedding cake, with a RMW favourite being the cheese tower (and, luckily for you, we’ve put together the ultimate guide to choosing, assembling and devouring all the cheese).
