This morning we’re off to the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside to the lovely Dodford Manor to take a peek at the springtime wedding day of Jo and Andy. This gorgeous pair opted for a classic and very chic colour palette of off-white and navy for their wedding day carefully accessorised with creamy white blooms – perfect for the time of year.
The Bride’s Fashion
Jo The Bride: I wore a beautiful gown by Sassi Holford, bought from Bellissima Bridal Gowns in Bury, Lancashire. I accessorised with a pair of beautiful pearl and diamond droplet earrings with a co-ordinating necklace which were bought for me by my parents.
We married at Dodford Manor – an exclusive barn set in beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. We really could not fault the venue or the staff; they really did make our day run so smoothly and felt like all the details were being taken care of.
From the day we got engaged, I continuously visited blogs and Pinterest collating all my ideas so I could get a feel for the type of look I wanted. I started off with quite a vintage feel but then I realised I wanted a smarter, cleaner look. I knew I wanted my flowers to be white and for the green stems to be very visible to create the spring feel which Suzanne Evetts, produced for us. I didn’t want anything too grand. In short, I would say I was going for simple but elegant….hopefully I pulled something similar to that together.
We also bought a Polaroid camera, which guests used to create some fantastic shots which they added to their guestbook entries.
A friend made the most amazing blueberry cake with elderflower buttercream. We wanted a very rustic really cake which was not too formal for the venue which she achieved perfectly.
Jenkinsons created our wedding breakfast; we had goats cheese salad with goats cheese popcorn for starter, roast pork with crushed beetroot hearts and stewed apple with caramelised pulled pork. For dessert we had a trio, as they all tasted so good on the taster day! This included chocolate torte, strawberry and Champagne posset and Peach crème brulee.
Bridal Party Fashion
We bought the bridesmaid dresses from Phase Eight, I was set on navy as the colour scheme. The girls looked great in the dresses, but I was very fortunate to have such beautiful bridesmaids so could have worn anything!
All of the groomsmen suits were bought from Next. We teamed these up with lovely fleur de lis navy and white ties, pale blue shirts and brown accessories.
During the ceremony and drinks reception we were entertained by the fantastic Vyne Strings string quartet. In the evening we all busted some shapes to the very talented Embassy band.
Our fantastically talented photographer – Katrina Bartlam – at Captured by Katrina managed to get two people who are the least photogenic people on the planet and make them look half decent…for the day at least. She was a true professional who was able to put everyone at ease which helped to get some great pictures that we will treasure forever.
