Today’s engagement shoot is just such fun. I literally LOVE it. For starters, Jodie and Adam found Samuel Docker right here on RMW. Then there’s the epic venue – boutique hotel No. 131 Cheltenham which is a featured Mr & Mrs Smith hotel (where they give you hot milk and cookies before bed!!)
I haven’t even mentioned the range of shots Sam has captured – I think this should be the obligatory checklist of things to do on a romantic weekend, let alone on an engagement shoot…pillow fights, bathroom mirror flirting, dressing up for cocktails and dinner and then a seriously steamy shower shot.
Yep – this shoot has it all!
Jodie The Bride: So it all began with Sam, having spent months looking for a photographer we hit gold when we found Mr Docker on Rock My Wedding, his amazing shots had us at hello.
After stalking his blog and website, we found even more amazing photos and an hilarious “about me” section, we knew he was the one!!!
We chose to do an engagement shoot to use the images for our save the dates and a chance to meet Sam before the big day.
Location was chosen purely for the hotel, having searched for some time for the ideal location we discovered No. 131 in Cheltenham. From the chic decor, the amazing bar to the hot flask of milk and cookies before bed, this place had it nailed.
We wanted a really relaxed shoot that was a little different…a bottle (or two) of prosecco beforehand certainly helped us with the pre shoot nerves…however as soon Sam arrived he put us right at ease and was more like an old friend.
After a day of shooting we decided to continue the evening on a high so we took a trip to Le Champignon Sauvage a 2 Michelin stared restaurant where we dined on some great food and wine.
Waking up the morning after…somewhat ‘rusty,’ we were delighted to find a sneak peak of our pictures already emailed from Sam, which we perused while eating the unexpected delivery of warm croissants and ice cold orange juice.
The weekend was fantastic a truly unforgettable time, made perfect by the location and the people involved, a big thank you to all.
Roll on the wedding…
