Inspiration

No one does artistic, emotive and just darn sexy wedding photography quite like Carla Blain. Her style is so unique, creative and stylish, she captures weddings like no other. Katie and Sion are lucky to enough to call her a friend, so naturally they jumped at the chance to have her photograph their day. The stunning Iscoyd Park was the setting for this wedding, it's one of our absolute favourites and it's always such a pleasure to feature stylish Iscoyd couples, like Katie and Sion. You can see more of them here, after you've swooned over this of course...

Carla Blain Photography

Katie the Bride: Carla is not only one of the most exciting and inspired photographers around, she is also a dear friend. We most certainly didn’t want ‘conventional’ photographs, so Carla's modern, quirky style was perfect.

The Bride

Swarovski pearl earrings which were bought for me by my bridesmaid, Tiffany pearl bracelet which was given to me by my mother before the wedding as a wedding gift from the groom. Bridal party’s hair was by Siobhan Jones – Be Creative. I have extremely thick, long hair and stylists in previous trials had struggled to get it up...but Siobhan did a fantastic job. She was so fun and made everyone feel so at ease, we almost took her to the wedding! I’m not a girly girl and I’m really not a fan of white shoes or anything too sparkly, so shoes were really difficult to pick. However, my Carvela shoes were the perfect mix of classy and vintage.

The Flowers

Mandy and her team at Vivid were superb and seemed to know exactly what we wanted with little direction. We gave a brief idea of what we wanted and they pretty much took care of it! We had a burgundy theme throughout with lots of peach, ivory and greenery. The buttonholes were based on my bouquet with the addition of some wild elements such as thistle. They were tied together with twine for a rustic feel. The aisle was decorated with snaking greenery made up of rosemary and ivy as well as rustic, white lanterns. A large floral display based on the bouquet was placed at the front to add some luxury and colour to the room. The flower girls had floral crowns based on my bouquet. Centre pieces were blossom trees – my favourite, along with candles inside wooden log pieces.

The Venue: Iscoyd Park

Iscoyd Park is the most magical place we had ever been! I am from South Wales and the groom from North Wales, so the search area was wide. However, walking into Iscoyd Park we got that instant feeling of ‘this is the one’. It has the perfect mix of vintage classic with a quirky boutique feel. Impressive floral displays and scented candles make it feel like a home from home.

The Décor

Elegant and classic with a rustic twist. Wooden hanging ladder, order of the day pallet, messy, green bouquets and blossom trees gave it a rustic feel. However, our venue was extremely elegant, light and airy. We both share a love of Autumn but due to Sion's job, we couldn’t get married during this time. Therefore, our colour scheme did have an Autumnal feel to it. We went with bright burgundy as the main colour with lots of messy greenery. To keep it feeling summery we also went with lots peach and ivory shades. The bridal party (two bridesmaids and one brideman) wore a mixture of champagne and burgundy. The groom did not want a conventional black suit so went with electric blue that worked well with the burgundy.

The Food

Cake maker was Emz Cakes Wrexham, we had a 3 tiered naked cake decorated with flowers provided by Vivid. The food was provided by Iscoyd Parks very talented chefs. Various canapes (quail scotch egg, crab Bellini, mini steak and chips), 3 course main (cheese tartlet with poached egg, confit chicken with pea jus, chocolate brownie), evening food – Pizza van.

The Entertainment

All music throughout the day (inc ceremony) was chosen by us. The evening entertainment was the Chester based band ‘The Royale’. We also had a photo booth with props and the grooms homemade dare jars on every table.

Wedding Planner

Wedding planner – in house at Iscoyd Park – Charlotte Tyler-Creed. Charlie, as we know her, was superb...just what you need in a wedding planner. I used to look forward to every single meeting with her at the magical Iscoyd Park, with their delicious coffee and biscuits! She’s an absolute dream to work with.
