Katie said that her colour scheme was “everything we liked, green, navy, white, gold, maroon….” and it absolutely worked. We feature the beautiful Cripps Barn on numerous occasions yet it never fails to amaze me how completely different each wedding looks. It just goes to show what a creative bunch our brides are.
I love Katie’s off-the-shoulder lace Maggie Sottero gown paired with a delicate gypsophila flower crown and a gold strappy sandal, so chic. Also I must mention the cakes – all lovingly hand made by Aunty Mandy and cousin Emma. AMAZING.
Katie The Bride: I knew from the beginning I would opt for a relatively plain dress, and instantly saw a dress I thought I LOVED, with its Grecian style and draped back. So along with my bridesmaid we drove the 2 hour journey, to discover it wasn’t me!.. My bridesmaid, being my best friend knows me well enough to know how I feel and want to look in dresses. After many dresses later, the dress I felt amazing in, I found in Amelia Classics in Chippenham, was an off the shoulder, fitted delicate lace Maggie Sottero dress.. I felt wonderful, and to top it off, when the curtain pulled open to show Beth, she cried! THIS WAS IT!
We chose Bath Road Methodist Church as it was local to both Adam and I, literally walking distance! Which was what we both wanted to do!
Well, why wouldn’t we have picked Cripps Barn! It is just such a beautiful place, again we knew wanted a barn, and we looked around a couple, but from the moment we pulled up in the car park, in a horrible down pour, we knew it was the one! As we went through the doors, the stone floors, open fire place, wonderful oakroom, and beautiful views were all just incredible! Yes- I cried again!
Whatever went! Green, Navy, White, Gold, Maroon, EVERYTHING WE LIKED!
Helen and Stella from Nightingale Florists were FANTASTIC! They were so helpful, friendly and fun! They knew their stuff, helped with ideas, helped us with getting particular bits we couldn’t find! We could not recommend these wonderful ladies enough! We had a variety of flowers, consisting of Peonies, Roses, Gypsophila and Anemones.
My favourite colour has always been dark green, and having spoken to both my bridesmaids Beth and Christabel, we all decided on long dresses with sleeves, and we found the perfect style in Coast. Unfortunately, the colours weren’t right. Eventually they began bringing in new stock, and Emeral Green arrived! Amazing! The dresses and the girls just looked beautiful! We were all SO pleased with them!
Adam being a musician, was the perfect person to choose our band for the wedding, we together made the decision on Motown, Adam then chose the OJs Mowtown Band! They were incredible, the guests were dancing all the way to the end of their set, they even allowed for Adam and his bands mates Sam and Charlie – The Alfonz, to play a few songs, which the wedding party all knew! And to top it off, the band sang our first dance ‘higher’ perfectly! We could not have asked for better!
We fancied something a little different, yet knowing it would take a little time, we went through all our guest images, to pick the funniest to have as name places on our table plans! It was actually a lot of fun picking the images! A few friends got off lightly!
Succulent Plants, wrapped and named by the bride, groom, bridesmaid and grooms mother!
Mini Rump Burger, Sweet Peppers, Seasame cocktail Sausages.
Mixed grill – Ribs, Lamb Chop and Chorizo.
Light up Letters
Having seen these letters pop up a few times online, we decided to have them as our feature in the stone room at Cripps Barn, as we opted not to have the open fire place lit. They were just wonderful, they made great pictures and everyone loved them.
We couldn’t decide on one cake, so decided on having all that were in our crazy minds! A 4 layer chocolate & cream cake, a red velvet heart cake, a victoria sponge, chocolate brownies and caramel shortbreads. Adams wonderful Auntie Mandy and Cousin Emma helped us all the way through in choosing and then making the cakes. They did such a great job!
We knew we wanted Josh Tollafield from the moment we started wedding planning, but we also wanted him as a guest as he is a close family friend. He is just so brilliant, he knew how we wanted our images, who we wanted them with and he had fun with that! Every one has complimented on his images, they truly are wonderful. Adam and I cant stop looking at them! He captured every little moment, emotion and laughter- Thanks Josh!
Well, after seeing The Wedding Cut come up in a few searches, I decided to have a nose. After clicking on one video, I was eager to see the next.. then the next. I loved everything about what Ben had done with these videos, the carefully chosen music, the emotion, energy and everything you could capture in these trailers were all so wonderful. I then got Adam hooked! After meeting Ben, we knew we couldn’t wait to go ahead with the video! On the day, you wouldn’t have known that Ben wasn’t a guest (minus the camera!) It was like having a friend there! We honestly could not recommend him enough! Our trailer was a hit with our friends and family, and the wedding video well, that was just wow! Thanks so much Ben!!!
Our good friend Sue Bardwell, is a fantastic artist, and having seen a few magazines, we weren’t keen on many, so decided on little drawings of us! However, with out Adam knowing, I asked Sue if she could draw Adam and I out in our wedding attire! Resulting in Adam not seeing the cake toppers until he had seen me on the day! They were just so wonderful, we have kept them and framed them in our home! She really did get all the details, not only of my dress, but of Adams suit, and personality as well!
My Bridesmaid Christabel Franklin did my make up with her little daughter/assistant Willow keeping an eye on things as she sat on my lap whilst mummy worked!
