Inspiration

On the first-day weddings were able to take place after lockdown was lifted, Elaine and Andrew knew they wanted to say their I do's. They held an intimate ceremony at Elsick House with just 8 people including themselves, the registar, their parents and siblings. The mother of the bride and groom wore custom-made Korean wedding dress outfits, also known as Hanboks and everyone had an amazing time. The relaxed atmosphere of the day allowed the couple to get some incredible portraits with Emma Lawson Photography. In their own words, they said: "We initially thought that having a bigger wedding and celebrating with everyone would make our day special when in reality we just needed each other. Our small post-COVID wedding was everything we could have asked for." What an inspiration this happy couple is. Love wins people, love always wins, just look at the joy.

What Made Our Day Unique

Originally, we had planned to have a larger wedding on the 28th March 2020 celebrating with family travelling in from Korea and friends from all over the world. However, due to COVID and the UK going into lockdown the weekend of our wedding, these plans had to be cancelled. We decided what was important to us which was to be together and married and so opted to have an intimate wedding instead (only 8 people allowed). The day came and it was even more amazing and special than we could have imagined.

Korean Wedding Dress

The custom made Korean wedding dress outfits also know as Hanboks is most definitely a first for Rock My Wedding, but we hope it won't be a last. Worn by the mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom throughout the day and after a swift change by the gorgeous couple themselves for some incredible bride and groom portraits. Having a micro wedding most definitely has its advantages as you can take your time with all the couples portraits, as you can see, we've included multiple galleries today, as we felt this intimate celebration needed to be seen in its entirety. We hope it has brought you joy as it has us, and gives you hope for your own celebration.

Inspiration & Styling

We as a couple are both very relaxed and wanted a wedding that was very much "us" and so we picked everything together, from colour scheme to our wedding cake. We liked the look of simple but elegant weddings using mainly whites, blush and greenery/ foliage to give us that timeless look.

Change Of Plans

Our wedding day changed so much from a large party with lots of guests to only having our closest family present. As a result the whole day was very relaxed and we were able to enjoy and appreciate every moment. Being able to take the extra time with our photos, including in our traditional Korean Hanboks was definitely a special highlight of our day.

Advice

Our advice to anyone planning their wedding is to remember what is important, getting married. Everything else is just a bonus. We initially thought that having a bigger wedding and celebrating with everyone would make our day special when in reality we just needed each other. Our small post COVID wedding was everything we could have asked for.

Wedding Fashion

As the Bride is half Korean, her family had traditional Korean Hanboks tailor-made for the Bride, Groom, and both of their mothers. If it wasn't for the current pandemic, all of the women from the Korean side of the family would have also worn theirs. The bride's mother (Korean) and grooms mother (Scottish) still wore theirs throughout the ceremony and the bride and groom changed into theirs for photos after the ceremony.

If you're considering having a socially distanced wedding we've written an article to help you prepare. It deals with everything from reducing your guest list to keeping guests safe on the day.
