Inspiration

A traditional church ceremony with the bride in a stunning lace edge veil and strapless wedding dress, followed by an English country reception. Located in the Isle of Wight, Appuldurcombe House played host to this celebration, with its Baroque architecture detailing and ruins all styled perfectly with candlestick centrepieces and beautiful green foliage. The bride and groom travelled in style from the church to the reception in the groom's fathers Aston Martin allowing the couple to steal a few moments and enjoy the breathtaking views together. After the classic church wedding, it was really important for this couple that all of the guests had a good party, with excellent food and drinks flowing long into the night.

WHAT MADE OUR DAY UNIQUE

"The location for us was really special. We have loved going to the Isle of Wight to stay at Oli's parent's house over the years and having the church so close meant he and his Ushers, as well as lots of the other guests staying nearby, could all walk to the church in the morning. Having it on the island also meant that most people made a weekend of it, enjoying a BBQ with us on the Friday night, and long lunch on the beach in Ventnor on Sunday to help cure the hangovers." - Alex & Oliver

Lace Edge Veil

The location of this wedding is breathtaking along with that, the bridesmaids all looked stunning in dusky pink dresses next to the bride who looked incredible in a strapless Pronovias wedding dress and a lace edge veil. These outfits all paired perfectly with the gorgeous white bouquets by Bembridge Flowers which were filled with roses and green foliage.

INSPIRATION & STYLING

"We would describe the style as classic English country wedding. Our church was traditional, as was the outside of our venue but inside was a bit different, with the ruined manor house feel adding a different atmosphere. The wedding ceremony was important to us, as were the hymns, but after the church service we just wanted all our friends and family to enjoy themselves and a have a good party so we made sure the food was good, the drink was flowing and the dancefloor was full. We used Rock My Wedding for inspiration on what other people did and any ideas. As we got married on the Isle of Wight we had good recommendations of who to use. What helped, even more, was that they all knew each other so working out the logistics were much easier than we thought. All of our suppliers were fantastic and made everything so easier for us." - Alex & Oliver
