Inspiration

Oh my, I think I'm in love. Yep of course with the couple and Marcos Sanchez's adorable captures, but probably mostly with bride Rachel's lace Inbal Dror wedding dress. The fishtail skirt, plunging neckline, and low back details are all heavenly and suit both Rachel and this relaxed boho wedding week in the sun beautifully. Despite Rachels tales of thunder on their day, every moment captured is full of joy. But you know how the saying goes, 'Rain on the wedding day, sunshine in the marriage', which means these two beauts are off to a flying start.

Mas Torroella Barcelona Destination Wedding Week

Rachel & Matt: We both wanted to get married in or around Barcelona, it’s one of our favourite places to visit, mainly because of the food, wine and laid back culture. I started searching for authentic Villa’s in Barcelona and the surrounding areas and this led us to the only Venue we actually viewed, Mas Torroella. As soon as we arrived at the Masia we knew that’s where we wanted to hold the wedding, the pictures don’t do justice to just how beautiful it is! The owner Silvia has impeccable taste and was so helpful in translating and recommending lots of suppliers when we advised her we wouldn’t be using a wedding planner. I knew planning the wedding from the UK wasn’t going to be easy but I was clear on the vision and how we would make it happen.

Inbal Dror Wedding Dress

We wanted our wedding to be elegant but relaxed. My dress was by Inbal Dror, I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.

Bridesmaids Separates

The bridesmaids wore a long skirt and top, I knew it was going to be warm and I wanted them to all feel comfortable.

Groomsmen in Relaxed Shirt & Chino

The groom and groomsmen wore a shirt and chinos, again we wanted them to be comfortable and have a relaxed feel.

Non-Religious Wedding Ceremony

Our Ceremony was non-religious and really short, around 20 minutes from start to finish. My uncle conducted the ceremony which consisted of a promise we wrote together, lots of laughs and a short reading from my brother in law on one of Mas Torroella’s lawns, this was my favourite part of the day. Silvia and our florist Magda brought to life my vision of the ceremony with a beautiful arch made from wooden doors, flowers & green foliage.

Wedding Photographer

Choosing our photographer was easy, as soon as I came across Marcos Sanchez’s blog I knew we needed to have him photograph the wedding, I love his dark, arty style. I didn’t expect him to be so lovely and make us all feel so relaxed and comfortable on the day. He has a great sense of humour and kept us laughing all day! I couldn’t be happier with the photos, Marcos also put together a slideshow to music which tells the story of the day, something I really appreciated as we didn’t have a Videographer.

When the Thunder Comes...

Originally we planned to have everything outside, a Girona thunderstorm had other ideas. Luckily our venue Mas Torroella had beautiful halls and indoor areas we could relocate the reception too.

Wedding Breakfast

One of the best decisions we made was to use SAO catering, their food, catering and service was incredible. They were so professional and quick to react to the rain, a special thank you to Alba, the SAO team, my husband and the Groomsmen that moved the table’s back outside every time the sun came out whilst I was blissfully unaware enjoying the aperitif.

Olive Trees, White Flowers & Candle Decor

The decor was predominately olive trees, white flowers and candles. Our table plan was created using our favourite records, all of which were played by acoustic guitar during the aperitif by Daniel Da Silvia. Daniel and his band played during the Ceremony, the aperitif and the evening. Considering the thunderstorm cut all the power on several occasions, the band did an amazing job of singing, playing acoustically and keeping the party going in candlelight. I can’t thank them enough!

Unforgettable Wedding

We spent a week at Mas Torroella, full of BBQs, sunshine and fun with our friends and family. Our wedding was an unforgettable experience. Rain on the wedding day, sunshine in the marriage.
