Inspiration

Whatever the weather, if you want to say I do we think you should go for it. We actually think the elements have added to the drama of this Lake District elopement wedding inspiration by Esme Whiteside Photography. Plenty of Hollywood films pay for wind swept hair like that. And who doesn’t love snuggling under a blanket together.

Intimate and moody Lake District elopement inspiration with celebrant led ceremony.

Inspiration

For a while, I’ve really wanted to shoot a super wild, stormy elopement shoot. I really love shooting in bad weather, especially when my photography style is so intimate and moody, I think rain and wind really add that extra element to the romance. This was not an easy spot to get to, with quicksand, rain, rock climbing, and wind to contend with, Lauren and Rob definitely needed their docs, jumpers and blankets to wrap up in. Naturally, the Lake District always provides epic landscapes, and I was envisioning something beachy but rugged. The little spot we chose for this elopement was exactly that, coves, caves and loads of dark rock, it was exactly what I was looking for. For this shoot, I bought my own wedding dress from the Jean Jackson Couture sample sale and managed to get a beautiful beaded and lace Anna Campbell gown. It’s super pretty and stylish but looked gorgeous against the landscape. Sam Williams Flowers provided the most beautifully romantic bouquet. Filled with English countryside style blooms including garden roses, blood-red peonies and white scabious. The bouquet really went with the ‘wild’ theme but was really elegant and on-trend at the same time – Lauren’s pink hair also worked so well with those deep reds in the bouquet! Charlotte Pennefather Celebrant joined us despite the weather and conducted a ceremony right by the sea. It was beautifully raw and pure, stripped the emotion back to the bones and allowed our real couple, Lauren and Rob, to really reflect on their relationship.

Lake District Elopement Wedding

Whilst some couples have been forced to postpone their wedding, others have decided they just want to be married. This Lake District elopement wedding inspiration shows that whatever the weather; be that windy, raining, cloudy and cold, you can still have an intimate celebration with incredible captures. We actually think the elements have added to the captures. Plus, who doesn’t want to snuggle up in a blanket with their beau.

Moody Elopement

We wanted to show how you can really tailor your elopements to suit your dreams, even in the pouring rain and 30mph wind. Charlotte’s ceremony overcame all those obstacles and provided a huge feeling of romance. With elopements, there’s no one to tell you no, and nothing to overwhelm. No traditions that you must adhere to, and your ceremony created around your relationship by your celebrant. It’s just you and your love, celebrating and sharing in an intimate and profound moment as you say your vows and share in your love story together. I’m anticipating elopements and intimate weddings to be bigger than ever before, with couples reassessing their wedding plans and going back to the basics – which is essential, them and their relationship! This particular elopement shoot provides all the emotion, all the intimacy, the snuggles through the cold weather and the sense of adventure!
