Inspiration

We, at RM Towers, are still riding high after yesterdays glorious Royal Wedding, eugh wasn't it just delicious!!! Today though, on this royal wedding boxing day we are here to ease you back into the beautiful reality of real weddings and this one is a smasher.  A bespoke bridal gown, DIY decor, and pretty florals fill Cheshire's Owen House Wedding Barn.  The couple's family and friends helped to create some wonderful treats for this wedding. Our personal favourites have to be the parents of the bride making the wonderful cakes, seriously special stuff guys.   Photography by the wonderful Livi Edwards.

“Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more. We feel very lucky to have found each other and really are best friends”

Andy proposed by recreating their very first date when he asked Laura to marry him, which was so special and Laura did not have a clue - then the wedding planning began!

Venue

Laura the Bride: The fact that we had a fantastic venue in Owen House Wedding Barn and a beautiful church in St Thomas Becket Chapel-en-le Frith meant that we had all the ingredients for a special day right from the beginning. Vanessa and Dan at Owen House could not have been more helpful even from our initial viewing of the venue and they answered question after question in the build-up always re-assuring us and making every effort to guarantee that we could have the day we wanted. We really enjoyed the wine tasting evening they invited us to and they really went the extra mile in terms of advising us on every aspect of the day, right down to how many jam jars we should aim to save!

Reverend Colin Pearson and the parishioners of St Thomas Becket welcomed us with open arms and we have enjoyed becoming a part of the parish community, especially given the fact that Laura’s Nan and Grandad married in the same Church some years ago. It is a beautiful chapel and we could not have wished for a better service. Again Reverend Colin made the day extra special with his kind words and his efforts to make everybody feel a part of the ceremony.

Flowers

Our flowers were from Rachel’s Flowers in Chapel-en-le Frith and Rachel was so helpful in terms of meeting with us to discuss the best options and working to our budget, we could not thank her or recommend her highly enough. The Church and venue looked beautiful and the bridal bouquet, in particular, was a work of art.

Decor

One of the key factors in how magical our day was the involvement of our nearest and dearest. Our bridesmaids spent a good few evenings helping us decorate jam jars for table decorations and one of them handmade our save the dates and parts of our invitations. They were stunning and totally unique to us. We had a cake table for dessert with homemade cakes from my mum and a 5 tier ‘naked’ cake that my dad created after several months of practice runs and a variation of sponge mixes and secret ingredients. These DIY aspects of the day allowed us to really put our stamp on everything and helped us to involve people closest to us.

Entertainment

A good wedding demands good food and great entertainment, we had both plenty. So good was Vanilla in all Seasons, that when we were picking the menu we had a second tasting, partly because we were spoilt for choice but mainly because I couldn’t wait for the day to taste their amazing culinary treats again. The canapés looked like something off the Great British Menu final and each one tasted amazing. These were followed by a selection of barbecued meats – rib-eye steak, pork belly and chicken – and a selection of wow salads and huge portions of grilled halloumi. Every mouthful was stunning and there was so much food I did fear I might need a lie-down.

We had a brilliant singer in James Collins perform during the reception drinks and wedding breakfast and he was then followed by The Royale Band who blew people away and did an amazing version of our first dance song ‘I’m gonna be’ by the Proclaimers. They were so good friends of ours have tried to book them for their wedding.

Then DJ Grant Niblett of Nocturnal Revolutions closed out the evening for us musically and he again was so helpful and accommodating in terms of discussing playlists and favourites.

Photography

The day was captured for us by the brilliant Livi Edwards. Her unique style and approach to the photography was exactly what we were looking for and Livi made sure that the photographs took place without interrupting the flow of the day. She put us at ease and captured so many magical moments from the day. Nothing was too much trouble and she even sprinted from the brides house to the church in the rain!

The Dress

Laura’s dress was beautiful and bespoke. She had it handmade by Julie Mitchelmore at Village Bride in Marple Bridge. This enabled Laura to bring her own ideas for design and style and get her perfect dress. Julie did a wonderful job of bringing design ideas Laura had to life and she even dressed Laura on the morning of the wedding just to ensure that everything looked perfect. Laura’s mum went to every fitting with her and also had her dress made by Julie. Julie also sewed a sixpence for Laura’s nan into the dress which was very special.
