If you're dreaming of your summer holidays and longing to feel the sand on your toes, then this mornings wedding just might satisfy your needs. Located at Budle Bay in the North East is this stunning white on white marquee wedding. Plus have you seen bride Laura's boho bridal look yet? Not only is her Yolan Cris lace gown utterly divine, but she also has the most beautiful Jenny Packham headdress framing her relaxed wavy hair. Capturing all the emotion and pretty is the fabulous Matt Ethan Photography who's fine art style fits perfectly with this dreamy day.

Location

Laura The Bride: David and I knew from the start that we wanted a unique and personable wedding. We looked at ready made venues but something did not feel quite right. It was important to us to get married somewhere that meant something to us both. We both grew up on the North East coast in Northumberland so this felt like the natural choice. My dad Tom found our picturesque location. An old friend of his owns the field and was happy for us to use it. How lucky were we! With stunning views of Budle Bay and Holy Island the field was perfect.

Look & Feel

Five months after getting engaged David and I travelled around Indonesia for three weeks and we kept seeing lovely touches which we wanted to try and emulate at our wedding. We wanted to create a classy boho, beach vibe! The wedding invitation graphic was designed by an Indonesian tattoo artist who lives on the GIli Islands. We liaised on Instagram and he came up with a personal design incorporating our initials. We used this design on the invitations, order of service, napkin wraps. We also collected bags of washed up coral from the beaches on the Gili Islands and carried it home. We sprinkled this down the centre of the tables in and around the vases filled with white hydrangeas. It felt natural to nod to the location and have subtle beach elements. For names places we used large mussel shells. We had sand in the bottom of jam jars for tea lights. Our table plan was written on a large mirror drape with eucalyptus. I have never been a fan or marquees but in order to have the stunning and unique location we had no other option! To maximize the view we opted for a marquee with clear sides. We dressed the ceiling with strands of fairy lights which looked magical at night. We wanted a clean space but I was concerned that it was all too white so I added eucalyptus trails to the large floating balloons lining the tables. This helped to break up the space too.

Flowers

Flowers were simple but impactful and we moved all flowers used in the church to the entrance of the marquee. I loved my protea bouquet. Helen from Bels Flowers was hugely creative and totally got what I wanted and worked with my budget. She is amazing!

Catering

A close family friend Emily Botham did our catering. The food was really important to us and we wanted our guests to be well fed all day. Emily did the most amazing job. Stunning canapés full of flavor and very colourful. We then had the most amazing seafood towers using afternoon tea stands. Mains we yummy individual steak and ale pies with green vegetable and jus. I made little flags for each pie which had common sayings that mum says when she is encouraging people to eat ….. ‘tuck in’, ‘get stuck in’, ‘fill ya boots’. Emily is famous for her chocolate brownie so it was an obvious choice to have that for dessert. Delicious and very hearty! Emily was fantastic to deal with and worked with our budget. Her staff were top notch too.

Bar & Band

Bar staff were on top of their game! Guests never had an empty class subsequently the dance floor was full all night! Aaron and his band entertained us all night. The saxophonist coming on the dance floor was a particular highlight! They also played our first dance – 500 miles, The Proclaimers.

Photographer

I found Matt online and we instantly hit it off! We skyped from Dubai and ran through what we wanted to capture and the style of pics. Matt was great on the day, chatting and getting on with everyone. He made David and I feel super relaxed and the photos he got of us on the beach on our own are stunning! Pics to treasure forever for sure.

Amazing Help!

Family and friends were absolutely amazing, we could not have done it without them. In particular my mum Dawn. She was my wedding planning wing woman! Relocating to Dubai and planning a wedding could have been very stressful but she kept me calm and helped massively. One tip for anyone planning a marquee wedding – plan ahead for the day after the wedding. It look us a good 5 hours to get everything out the marque the next day. Many hands make light work!
