Inspiration

This morning we're escaping to Italy, the Amalfi Coast to be precise, for a Jewish wedding filled with gorgeous flowers and fabulous decor. I absolutely love that Lauri & Milan chose to have two different looks for their ceremony and their reception - the white flower chuppah works perfectly with a backdrop of azure blue water and ancient Italian buildings, whereas the reception space feels warm and inviting with pink tones, lots of candles and fruit. As well as the gorgeous photographs from Giuli & Giordi we've got a really fun stop-motion film that they created too. It's addictive to watch and gives you a great idea of what the day was like. Which, I think it's safe to say was full of laughter, incredible scenery, good food, wine and sunshine!

Amalfi Coast

The Jewish wedding of Lauri and Milan is a romantic, warm and familiar event that we planned last summer in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, one of the finest wedding locations where we work and a favourite among foreign couples who choose a destination wedding in Italy, for its stunning sea views and its elegant venues. We adore these photos - so colourful and romantic, they give the taste of a summer wedding in Italy, full of joy, love, laughter and romance.

The Venue

The couple chose Villa Eva, a secluded Art Nouveau style Villa with gorgeous gardens and a stunning belvedere facing the Mediterranean sea. There are many beautiful areas for the different moments of the wedding day: for Lauri and Milan we organised the ceremony on the terrace, cocktails in the gardens, the wedding banquet in the marquee and the after party in a hall inside the villa.

The Decor

The bride chose decor in white and green with a romantic feel for the bouquet and flower crowns: roses and mixed white flowers, peonies and baby's breath mixed with ferns and green foliage for a boho chic style. The gorgeous chuppah was decorated with white flowers (peonies, roses, lysianthus, delphinium) and greenery. For the aisle and under the chuppah the bride chose elegant Persian carpets, they are so beautiful that they really didn’t need any other decoration. For the reception the bride preferred a different colour palette with muted hues of dusty pink, dusty orange and dark wine red. Large stone bowls filled with roses, peonies, astilbe and mixed foliage, alternated with tall candlesticks in a Renaissance style atmosphere with some rustic touches: figs, apples and pears scattered on the tables, brown place cards decorated with rosemary sprigs.

The Music

No Jewish wedding is complete without music! A trio of harp, flute and violin accompanied the wedding ceremony, and the violinist then moved to the garden to play for the hora dancing. The brother of the bride is a guitarist and a singer songwriter and he played for the guests during dinner. For the after party the guests moved to the dancing hall of the villa where they danced the night away with a deejay until 2 pm.

The Food

And now let’s talk about the food: exquisite Italian cuisine prepared by the staff of Villa Eva for an informal dinner served in large platters on the wedding tables. The starter was a variety of grilled vegetables, locally grown and an assortment of typical Italian cured meats and marinated fish made according to traditional recipes. A pasta course of homemade scialatielli with mozzarella, aubergines, cherry-tomatoes and basil was followed by a delicious trilogy of homemade crepes and ravioli with different stuffings, then rice, barley and spelt salads with fresh vegetables and steamed shrimps, flavoured with aromatic herbs. The two main courses were stuffed squid with smoked mozzarella cheese, vegetables and hard bread followed by mixed grilled meats: chicken, sausage and lamb chops. The wedding cake was also made by the staff at Villa Eva: a delicious three-layered sponge cake filled with hazelnut and chocolate cream, together with chocolate flakes and hazelnut grains.
