Inspiration

Real bride Emily had been planning her dream Lisbon wedding years before a proposal even took place. She wanted a timeless wedding fit for a royal and chose the charming Palácio Fronteira palace where 'A list' celebrities such as Valentino and Madonna had been partying the night before the wedding! She looks a vision in her Yolan Cris wedding dress which she'd waited three years to wear and kept hidden away under her bed before the big day, and Groom Stuart equally dapper in a navy suit and horseshoe waistcoat.

What Made Our Day Unique

Our day was unique to us because we planned our own wedding ourselves without the help or influence of a wedding planner. I have been working as a Personal Assistant in London for nearly 10 years and over this time planned many corporate events, my dream would be to one day become a wedding planner full time. Having the chance this summer to design my own wedding it really was a dream come true! The benefit of planning your own wedding is you get to pick all your wedding suppliers yourself without the influence of other people. I spent hours of my time researching different suppliers on Instagram… in fact, I found all my suppliers through 'the gram'. I supposed it's a very millennial way of researching but I found by looking at the supplier's tagged photos you could really see their work through previous wedding guests eyes, as opposed to the marketing pictures they chose to share. I found it useful others might find it 'stalkerish'!

Lisbon Wedding

Emily only visited one Lisbon wedding venue. First coming across Palácio dos Marqueses da Fronteira on Instagram before she was engaged. She loved it so much she asked them for a quote before Stu had even popped the question! When Stu finally asked her to be his wife in 2017, little did he know behind the scenes the wedding was already planned and ready to go! I can see why she fell for it. The gardens are truly magical, filled with the most beautiful mosaic Portuguese tiles and the inspiration for the blue colour scheme, stationery and wedding favours.

Inspiration & Styling

GRACE KELLY!!! I absolutely love a royal wedding so decided to try and created my own in Lisbon! I really wanted to something classical and timeless, something that in 10 years’ time I could look back on and it still look 'chic'. Continuing with the royal theme, we also used Stuart’s family 'coat of arms' on all the wedding stationery, which really did give a 'regal' feel to everything! My favourite moment of the day was listening to the speeches from the four most important men in my life, my father, father-in-law, husband and the best man my little brother. I know I am going to be biased towards my own wedding, but they really were such amazing speeches. I managed to hold it together the whole day but I did shed a tear or two during the speeches at dinner.
