Planning

We do love a supplier who is innovative, and challenges the norm. Uncommon Hands are floral designers doing exactly that. Reimagining both the inspiration process behind designing wedding florals, and how collections are put together too. It's all rather exciting and beautiful. If you want florals that take on some of your personality, tell stories and are completely bespoke, we think you are going to swoon over what Uncommon Hands are bringing to the industry. Uncommon Hands is all about breaking the rules of floristry and wedding norms. I am a believer that there's nothing you can't do on your wedding - it is your party after all - the spontaneous moments of your life are the ones that you'll remember when you look back; so have fun, bend those rules and make the most of your day. When deciding on florals and design, I am inspired by the stories of my clients. The flowers take on the personality of the individuals, which is why all our designs are uncommon - because our clients are never the same. I am here to make the journey fun for the couple - after all you'll spend more time planning the wedding than at the wedding - so why not make the most of everything?
TESTIMONIALS

“No words can describe the appreciation I have for Carol; for her amazing vision, coordination, setting up and wrapping up our fantastic event. She was the architect of the beautiful flower arrangements which she personally pieced together. She had to deal with terrible clients (me) who would not work on a speech when asked and she rolled with every change and problems that arose with a smile. The night wouldn't have been nearly as special without your touch.” Victor Manggunio, Groom

THE FACTS

  • Coming from an interracial family, I wanted a business name that; shows that there's uniqueness in being different; and one that echoes diversity. The name Uncommon Hands represents the individual for which the flowers are made, the craft behind the flowers for none of our arrangements are the same, and the story of each individual flower used.

  • Prior to wedding floristry, I have been working in so many other areas of the wedding industry. I started my journey being a butler to the brides at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, moving on to bridal wear and finally event managing and coordinating weddings for my clients. Finally after most 3 years of wanting to make a change, I left my job as a wedding planner and took on a course at the Tallulah Rose Flower School in Bath. Best decision ever.

  • It's hard for me to pick a favourite flower because I love them all. Growers are always coming up with new flower genes and I spend lots of time learning & discovering the new ones.

  • Next step would be to own a piece of land where I can start growing flowers and using them in my arrangement.

  • I have an overly friendly Ragdoll cat called Cheezburger & clients meet him when they are at my studio.

  • Instead of just using Pinterest , I encourage my couple to bring a favourite/meaningful picture (could be one from a holiday, or a Sunday family brunch) when coming up with ideas for their design. From that picture, we'll try to react a moment in their life that they want to share with their friends and family.
