Inspiration

Your Monday is about to get brighter with this colourful Mexican themed wedding including Llama wedding guests, a bride in an embroidered wedding dress, and a tipi reception full to the brim with DIY decor and pretty flowers. Plus it includes not one, but two of our handpicked, The List, wedding suppliers, PapaKata and Retro Press, so you know you're in for an extra treat. Enjoy lovely ones, I certainly did.

What Made Our Day Unique

Being wedding photographers we felt particular pressure because everyone expected big things! We really wanted a fun and relaxed day sharing amazing moments with our family and friends. We had lots of animals around (the venue is full of farm animals and we hired in an alpaca & llama!), our miniature schnauzer as flower girl, lots of colour, DIY things, flowers everywhere, family and friends, Mexican food, and we shared our wedding day with Meghan and Harry, so incorporated aspects of that into our day as well such as wearing crowns and had a cardboard cut out of them that we danced with during the ceilidh.

Llama Wedding

Llamas have been hitting the wedding scene for a while now, we've seen many an Alpaca and Llama wedding grace our pages and Instagram account, which you always seem to go nuts for! Anneka & Chris kept their furry friends a surprise, including their pet Luna who features in many adorable captures by Henry Lowther with her owners. Also making an impact is the PapaKata teepee and DIY wedding decor, which Anneka advises: "if you are having a marquee/tipi wedding make sure you leave enough time the day before to set everything up, and if you feel you have enough decor for the tipi, double it!" We think they've done an amazing job dressing it, and love all of their personal touches, especially the Edison bulb installation and Pinata!

Inspiration & Styling

Our day had Mexican Boho botanical vibes to it. I knew I wanted lots of colour and definitely wanted coloured embroidery on my wedding dress. I love the Mexican look but didn't want it to be too themed. I absolutely love flowers and plants and so for the past year and a half, I had been collecting good quality artificial flowers and foliage. Along with all different sorts of vases and jars with a rough colour theme of pink, coral, orange, yellow, and gold. We went to the local garden centre a week before the wedding and bought loads of flowers which we potted up ourselves and put around the venue. And our amazing florist (who brought us to tears!) created the most amazing floral displays for our wedding. Our Pinterest board was full of a quite specific look that we wanted and she absolutely nailed it! We're also massive animal lovers and so the fact that we had so many around the venue and our dog Luna there was just perfect.

Anneka & Chris

Anneka & Chris used our very own wedding supplier directory, The List, to find the very talented Retro Press for their wedding stationery. "Kate was absolutely amazing and so friendly, we knew she was the person for the job." And, even being industry experts and knowing a lot of talented people, Anneka & Chris admitted wedding planning was overwhelming at times and wished they used our handpicked suppliers more. If you're still searching for your perfect Stationer, florist, wedding venue, photographer or more, we'll be more than happy to connect you to our handpicked bunch.
