Inspiration

Lucy and Ed are from the North and South so wanted to incorporate both their heritages with a laid back rustic vibe to pay homage to the North and super luxe, glamorous details to represent the South, and the results are absolutely stunning. The deep berry blooms mixed with coloured glass goblets & gold platters make for one AMAZING tablescape. All housed in a clear sided PapaKåta sperry tent so guests can enjoy panoramic views of The Yorkshire Dales. I'm a huge fan of Lucy's 1920s Charlie Brear gown too; I would not be able to stand still with all those tassels crying out to be shimmied. Perfectly accessorised with Art Deco-inspired Miu Miu shoes. What a bridal outfit, and what a stunning Bride. Enjoy all the atmosphere and every detail with stunning images from Hayley Baxter Photography, a fabulous video from A Piece of The Party including live music from Warble Entertainment who are all members of our recommended supplier list The List.

The Wedding

Lucy The Bride: The general theme of the wedding was the South meets the North, as I am a Northern lass and my Husband is a born and bred Londoner.  We wanted to mix the laid-back, rustic feel of Yorkshire with the glitz and glamour of London living, which was successfully portrayed in our wedding invitation.

The Dress

I wanted to wear something individual and different to a lot of other styles I had seen.  The 1920s has always been an era of fashion that I have adored, so I felt comfortable in floor-length tassels!

The Grooms Fashion

Despite my resistance, my husband Edward wanted to wear traditional dress and opted for tails.  He looked very handsome on the day!

The Venue

We took over all 18 pods at Natural Retreats in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We had to accommodate a lot of Southerners and wanted to make a weekend of it! Erecting the PapaKåta Sperry marquee in the middle of the grounds meant our guests didn’t have far to go at the end of the night.  The see-thru sides of the marquee also meant our guests could enjoy the panoramic views of the Dales.  Guests arrived on the Friday to BBQs delivered to their doors and hampers filled with locally sourced produce.

Colour Scheme/Decor

The flowers did the talking! We also had a DANCE sign brought in by Typical Type.

Flowers

The bridesmaids were very monotone in shades of ivory, so I wanted a powerful pop of colour in the flower arrangements.  I went for deep purples and rich raspberry tones to match the glassware from Classic Crockery.

The Wedding Party Fashion

I wanted the bridesmaids to wear different dresses to suit them that they would feel comfortable in. They were very involved in the decision making.  Someone had to fly the meringue flag, so I dressed the flower girls in full ivory mesh dresses with cardigans from I Love Gorgeous!

Ceremony

We had a very musical ceremony with all the popular hymns, Reverend Mark Miller sang our sermon on his guitar and we left the church to Elton John’s “Kiss The Bride”.

Entertainment

We went with the After Party from Warble Entertainments.  They made the whole process extremely stress free and kept us very well informed throughout the whole process.  We also had had David Robertshaw play his homemade baby grand piano during our drinks reception.

Food

The food was effortlessly served by The Boldon Farmhouse Pantry. We ate burrata, heritage toms and edible flowers, followed by Northumbrian beef with mini Yorkshire puds, asparagus and sweet peppers & red onion.  Lastly, we had an assiette trio of deserts.  A favourite was the triple marmalade and toast ice cream!

Photographer

We opted for Hayley Baxter as she made us feel completely at ease from the get-go.  Her natural style and soft lighting produced perfect results.

Videographer

Lauren Garvey, Owner of A Piece of The Party was a last-minute recruit and the team captured the day from start to finish.  They also did a surprise hen party video which showed Ed in a mock feature for “Take Me Out”.
