Lucy and Luke are just the sweetest couple - I have a feeling you're going to love their rustic, home spun day and all the pretty florals. Naturally a farm wedding isn't complete without a tractor, I just love the images of our couple sitting in the trailer on hay bales. There are also lots of mismatched bridesmaids dresses in pastel tones, a gorgeous naked wedding cake and lots of quirky details to recreate for your own big day. It's super pretty from start to finish, you're going to love it!

The Bride

Lucy The Bride: My dress was from a local bridal boutique in Bournemouth; Chameleon. I've driven past it on my way to work for years and I knew as soon as I got engaged I wanted to book an appointment. Little did I know I would end up choosing the first dress I put on. I wanted a romantic, ethereal dress and didn't think I would manage to find one locally, however Chameleon had a few in the style I liked. The dress I chose was Emsley by Sottero and Midgley in Champagne. It was a beautiful tulle dress with a pearl beaded bodice. It really was everything I had ever dreamed of. I also wore a bracelet passed down to me from my Nan, which really meant a lot to me on the day.

The Groom

Luke went for a blue tweed waistcoat and blazer from ASOS, grey formal trousers from Next and tan brogues from Topman. He got a fun bowtie from Mrs Bowtie in a daisy print, which went perfectly with our outdoor farm wedding.

The Venue

We knew we wanted a tipi wedding and booked the tents before we had a venue. We used Coastal Tents, a local company based in Dorset. We had searched for a venue without much luck, however in the end Coastal Tents, recommended Purbeck Valley Farmhouse as they got married there themselves. As soon as we visited and felt the relaxed atmosphere and saw beautiful views of Corfe Castle we were sold.

The Decor

I knew I wanted a colourful wedding and didn't want anything to be too 'matchy'. In the end we went for a mixture of pastels, reflected in the bridesmaids dresses, flowers and decor. I also knew I wanted to handmake as much as I could. I made around 60 metres of bunting using lots of mismatched fabric, with a lot of help from friends and my mother-in-law! For centre pieces I made terrariums filled with a variety of succulents, again with help from friends and family. I sourced some unwanted furniture to use as a cake table and for presents and cards. Luke also made a few tables using pallets for a red wine bar and guest book and we sourced an old boat that we filled with ice for a 'help yourself' bar, which went down a treat! I also made some beautiful dream catchers using old doileys and embroidery hoops. For favours my bridesmaids and I put together 'make your own smore' kits, to use on the open fire we had in one end of the tipi - loved by the adults and the children alike!

The Flowers

We used a local florist; Naomi Joy Floral Design. I didn't have a definite idea of what I wanted, I just knew the colours and theme of the wedding. I had a consultation with Naomi and she made my vision a reality and did it perfectly! I couldn't have been happier with my flowers. I had a large colourful bouquet and as I had 7 bridesmaids I went for something a little more simple; daisies, gypsophila and eucalyptus. Naomi also made the MOST amazing flower piece to go over the pagoda we got married under. She then moved it during the photos to the top table; a great money saving tip. She also made beautiful pieces for some decorative hanging planks we had in the tipis. The flowers really added to the feel of the country wedding.

The Wedding Party

Bridesmaids all had dresses from ASOS, they were mismatched but in a similar fashion and were a mixture of pastel colours. Groomsmen had the same suit as Luke and I had my nephew as a page boy who wore a suit he already had with a bow tie to match the groomsmen.

The Ceremony

Our friend Liz did a reading by Stephen Curtis Chapman; I Will Be Here; the words were really meaningful to us. We were also lucky enough to have both of our grandads there for the wedding as our witnesses. Despite most of August being glorious, in the lead up to the wedding the weather took a turn for the worse. In the end we avoided the torrential rain forecast but had weather warnings for gale force winds! We still managed to have the outdoor wedding we wanted, but it led to a few funny moments including when I ended up losing my veil in the wind at the end of the aisle and the groomsmen having to ask the guests to sit down quickly; as the chairs were blowing away!

The Entertainment

We scoped out a band at a friend's wedding and just had to book them for ours. The Revue were amazing and had our guests dancing the whole night through.

The Food

We used local caterers Crab Apple, who often work with Purbeck Valley and Coastal Tents. We had a consultation and ended up deciding on a informal 'deep south' feast of ribs, chicken wings, salads, corn chips. Our friend Jenny made the most amazing three tiered wedding cake and cupcakes as our gift, which the caterers cut up and served as dessert. In the evening we had a plough mans using locally sourced cheeses and accompaniments.

The Photography

We spent a long time choosing our photographer and in the end decided to book Darima Frampton, a local photographer based in Dorset. We loved the quality and style of her work, which worked perfectly with our style of wedding. We met with Darima a few times in advance, including at our venue to scope out the best locations which was really helpful. We were so happy with the photos and the quality of the prints and photobook she provided.
